Healthcare centers and facilities play a significant role in disaster and emergency preparedness efforts for all types of events such as natural, man-made events, terrorist attacks and pandemic outbreaks. Healthcare facilities are required to have emergency and disaster operations plan which apparently gives an outline of how the hospital is prepared to respond and recover from all types of hazards. The preparation process requires the healthcare facility to include a number of six critical components including communications, resources and assets, safety and security, staff responsibilities, utilities and clinical and support activities (Wee 241). The centers for Medicare and Medicaid define an accountable care organization as a group of medical professionals and hospitals, whose aim is to share medical and financial responsibilities for coordinated care to patients (McCarthy, 2013). Risks to the Mine
The major hazards to the mines include the possibility of floods taking place in the sites, and they will lead to a stop of the mining process. Secondly, the mines are prone to gas explosions. The explosions will increase the hole, and might even lead to the prevention of further mining (Khan, et al. 2004). Thirdly, the mines might face chemical leakage, an act that may cause decomposition of rocks and depletion of the important resources in mines. Moreover, mines are prone to dust, that will lead to blocking of the extraction process, by occupying the region, or causing ...
Abstract
Emergency Planning as a Profession In this paper, I will bring forward arguments that emergency planning and emergency management are progressively being recognized as a profession in most parts of the world. Emergencies are usually linked to natural disasters or events caused by humans. In these cases, a need arises to mobilize the population for humanitarian action or self-defense against natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, fires, or human conflict, such as military attack or terrorist threat. The importance of emergency planning is also reflected in the International Humanitarian Law, for instance, in the Geneva Conventions on Protecting the Vulnerable ...

The HazMat emergencies are representative of a considerable range of response challenges, especially those involving employees’ exposure and the response involving victim(s). This script gives a review of the article pointing out the chief elements therein and the writer’s opinion.
Summary of the main points
The HazMat emergency refers to a collection offering important responses whenever employees suffer exposure to hazardous risks and accidents. They are ...
Three of the most common initiatives that can prepare and guide RNs for emergencies include the Clinical Outreach (COCA), Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC), and Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). For instance, COCA prepares RNs to respond to new health issues and emergencies through the communication of critical health information. Contrarily, CERC trains them on the ethics of crisis and risk communication in health care. Finally, EMAC offers shared personnel, resources, and equipment across state lines during health disasters (CDC, 2016). For example, during the recent Zika outbreak in Florida, the CDC collaborated with like-minded agencies to educate ...
Fostering Successful Emergency Planning
Fostering a successful emergency plan ensures that the plan focuses on intensive training and exercises. In doing so, the plan reinforces emergency preparedness for a number of potential emergencies. The exercises that emergency planners can create to test their plans include trial or testing through prototypes and operations, rehearsing the plan and explaining the plan to others and memorizing it (Perry, 2016). The best way to access emergencies is through trials. I believe this is true because when accessing emergency systems using trial, one bases the trial on socialist systems. The use of socialist systems in responding to emergencies ...

The case of Kitty Genovese was witnessed by almost 38 bystanders and it is inferred that the bystander effect was implied in this situation resisted the witnesses to help Genovese. This notion is found to prominent than the notion that implies that the urban stimulation of society makes the prevalence of an emergency less apparent (Dovidio et al., 2006). The Differences between Hazards, Emergencies, and Disasters
Emergency management can be described as the process through which societies act in an attempt to lessen the susceptibility to hazards and management of disasters. Usually, its aim is not to eliminate the threats, but to reduce their impact. Through the creation of the plans to reduce the effect of these disasters, the risks of damaging assets and losing revenue are reduced among others. However, most people find it challenging to differentiate between emergency, disaster, and hazards in addition to stating the required steps involved in analyzing the three perils. Disaster is a term that is used to describe ...

A major engineering firm has introduced virtual teams around the globe to resolve client emergencies. Although some of these emergencies are routine (they occur often enough that the engineers have ready-made action plans), several are novel. Furthermore, information about the client emergencies often comes second hand from employees of the client, so some of the details are missing or ambiguous. Although the company plans to eventually offer a variety of communication media that these virtual teams can use, engineers are currently limited to email, telephone, fax machine, and an instant messaging program that was recently introduced.First, discuss media richness. ...

The Problem of Delayed care in Paediatric Emergency Rooms
Statistics indicate that children are among the heaviest users of emergency rooms. In America, for example, more than 800,000 children require care from the emergency department (ED) daily. These cases translate to more than 31 million cases of pediatric emergency cases annually in America alone (Barata et al., 2015). There are many concerns regarding the preparedness s of the ED to handle this influx of patients. It is easy to point out that delay in care is a real concern given the big number of patients and the lack of proper training or supervision of the emergency care ...
Communication and Problem Solving Practices in Public Safety Agencies
Abstract Communication and problem solving are necessary for public safety agencies to be effective. Employees cannot adequately respond to disasters if they do not have the correct information or the information at all. Historically, public service agencies have used different communication protocols and equipment. This has resulted in a severe lack of coordination to disasters and emergencies that require the cooperation of different public safety agencies. The September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Hurricane Katrina are prime examples of the lack of coordinated communication and problem solving amongst different agencies. New technologies such as geographical ...

Implementation of the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System
Implementation of the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System Hospital Emergency Incidence Command System (HEICS) was established to assist medical facilities during times of crisis. Although the original version was developed in 1991, there have revisions, but the content has remained almost the same. Initially, HEICS was developed to assist individual medical facilities to handle issues of crisis. However, evidence has shown that a certain degree of external intervention might be required to integrate HEICS into the culture of a medical facility (AHA, 2016). For example, in order to work, one has to make a tour to a facility using ...

Corporates have a primary ethical and moral obligation to protect employee health and safety during occupation as well as emergencies. An emergency situation has to be anticipated, and the corporate management has to ensure there is an emergency evacuation plan in place, and all employees are trained to adopt safe emergency exit procedures. Emergency preparedness is not a stand-alone objective, and corporates have to adopt a safety-first culture to minimize human as well as property losses. Thus, management commitment, appropriate corporate culture and environment, employee training and participation, are all essential for proper emergency evacuation.

Chapter 20: Agency
The law defines agency as a fiduciary relationship between two persons whereby one acts on behalf of the other with his or her consent.
Employer-Employee Relationships
Employees who deal with third parties are taken as agents. For instance, sale transactions carried out by sales people bind the principal to the customer.
The fact that some employees are considered to be agents leads to an overlap between employment and agency law.
However, agency law has a broader reach compared to legistlations that govern employment. Employer-Independent Contractor Relationship Relationships between principals and contractors do not always involve agency relationships. For Example, an agreement between a homeowner and a real estate agent is an agency relationship while an agreement between an insurance broker ...

In the early stages of the emergence of infectious diseases, isolation and quarantine are in most cases the only and last resort used to control effectively and manage the conditions (Al-Ateeg, 2004). These methods are usually handy when there is a limited knowledge of a newly identified or an occurrence of a previously contagious disease that poses a serious public threat. While these methods are used to respond to emerging and re-emerging public health threats and protecting the public by preventing the exposure of the population who have or may not have contracted a contagious disease, there are significant ...
