Introduction
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a concept used in regards to practices that involve the partial or total removal of a female’s external genitalia for reasons that are not medical in nature (Burrage 56). In most instances, female circumcision involves the use of makeshift, rudimentary, or unsterilized tools.
