The ultimate decision of paying the college athletes lies in the court of the NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association, which happens to be a billion dollar sports industry running in the country. Operating as a non-profit in the nation, it is not difficult for the Association to scrape funds and provide them to deserving athletes who play at an amateur level but many of them reach this destination after strenuous hard work and dedication. It must be realized that it is not easy for all students because to many of them, sports does not come naturally (Thelin, 2016). They ...

According to the Betty Neuman's theory, a human being is an open system which interacts with both internal and external environments (Alligood, 2014). In addition, a human is always exposed to constant stressors and he/she must move in the direction where there is holistic stability. This theory views both environments as stressors which a person is exposed to on a daily basis (Sitzman & Eichelberger, 2015). In accordance with Betty Neuman's theory, the external factor which affects the health of Mr. Reynolds include the state of being hospitalized, being a widower, living in isolation and environmental risk factors for falls. ...
Nursing care models are distinct frameworks used in care settings to deliver care services. The type of framework adopted in an organization is determined by various factors, including economic factors, leadership, recruitment and retention of staff members, and type of decision-making models used in the organization (Fairbrother, Jones & Rivas, 2010). The type of care model used determines the quality and effectiveness with which care services are delivered. There are four main types of nursing care models, which can be broadly categorized into task-oriented or patient-centered. Team-nursing and functional care models are task-oriented, while primary-care nursing and total patient care ...

Concept of cultural competence nursing
Changing demographics in most nations require that nurses offer culturally competent care. Due to diverse populations, medical professionals have started to address the essence of creating a way to promote cultural competence in different healthcare situations. Primarily, cultural competence involves creating an appreciation of a person’s existence, consciousness, notions, and situation without permitting it to have an inappropriate effect on people from different backgrounds. Additionally, cultural competence demonstrates understanding and comprehension of the patient’s culture, embracing and accepting cultural diversity, and personalizing care based on the patient’s culture (Flowers, 2004). Public health nurses should pay attention ...

In addition, there will be an analysis of the lobbyist for the state nurses’ association, as well as the position of the nurses’ association on the legislation in operation and its candidates. For that matter, the state of choice for the analysis is Washington ...

Clinical knowledge is what influences nurses’ clinical judgment and quality of care in the various clinical ...
I believe that making a summary is a challenging task. Reproducing a shorted form of the author’s ideas, particularly in large works (e.g. chapters), can be overwhelming. Understanding the thoughts in details is one thing. Compressing it while staying faithful to the central ideas I believe will compress my brain as well. I cannot imagine compressing a 10,000-word chapter in 250-word summary. My first reaction was: even stringing the key words together into a summary may not limit the volume into 250 words. Hard the task may be, I believe certain skills can be learned in forcing ...

Al Shabaab refers to a jihadist terrorist group that operates in the eastern parts of the African continent, particularly in Somalia. The group originated from the militant section of the supreme Islamic courts union (ICU) in 2006 with the aim of forcing the democratic government to allow the establishment of an independent Islamic state in the country (Siegel 153). The Al Shabaab group is a form of an indoctrinated extremism as the group mostly targets the Muslim faithful to recruit them into the movement. The extremist group's main ideology is to force the formation of an Islamic state in ...
In taking the StrengthsFinder 2.0 Test, the five strengths that I obtained are: Learner, Context, Strategic, Achiever and Self-Assurance (Rath). It’s quite remarkable that most of the points made stemming from these strengths are quite accurate and has led me to understand myself much better.
Were your strengths what you thought they would be?
Response: Yes, they did turn out to be the ones that I thought I would be. In fact, I spend a lot of time trying to understand my past and how it will affect my future instead of blindly trying to leap forward. Learning is a big part of my Life right now ...

Exceptionalities are present in almost all learning institutions and the key to face such cases differ quite significantly from the norm. Such cases include disability both visual and other physical features, slow and quick comprehension of knowledge and also mental disabilities. The plans for such kids should focus on comprehension, word study or phonics since they are addressed to children with a deviation from the standard. In this case, I will consider a child with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and one with speech impairment. The model lesson plan is divided into active teaching, guided practice and independent practice. ...
No school operates without a curriculum. Fundamentally, aA curriculum is an essential part of the education system (Bradford, Kenneth, & Helen, 2017). A well-set curriculum contributes enormously to a good education. Additionally, it eases the learning process for the teachers and the learners. However, various schools have various curriculums set by various people in diverse ways. Nevertheless, quality education remains the core purpose of all the curriculums in education institutions (Armstrong, 2006). This paper is oriented towards comparing curriculums of different states, districts, and schools to the research of the best practice. Most successful schools are those that comply with ...

Body Mass Index
Body Mass Index (BMI) Introduction Historically, the use of the Body Mass Index (BMI) has been the standard method of measuring obesity among the adults. The standards of BMI were created using population samples, which were calculated from the measurement of the weight and height of Caucasians. Recent research has proved that BMI alone cannot be an appropriate way of measuring obesity. The main reason for this is the differences in ethnicity and the genetic make-up of individuals. The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has evaluated the trend of the BMI and the result is that the African ...

Public image of nurses: past, present, and future
Introduction Undoubtedly, the nursing profession has vital ingredients of accountability and autonomy. Also, it is true to assert that nursing profession demands more responsibilities than before when the main role of a nurse was just to provide comfort and care. In the modern world, a nurse is expected to be an advocate for clients, a manager, and an educator (Drayton & Weston, 2015). However, little attention is drawn towards the assessment of the actual public image and perception of nurses. Nurses seem to dwell in a dual structure of nursing and social worlds. The two worlds tend to influence and ...

Scholars across the board have been persistent on the need for the near perfection of the concept of vital signs monitoring. Prior contributions to this field of knowledge all seem to bend towards correcting the wrongs that at times overwhelm the nursing practice, while at the same time constructing updates and ingenious suggestions towards the bettering of methods of monitoring vital signs. This paper cuts across the dimensions of nursing practice as applied in a reflective situation, and the evaluative outlook into the perks of vital signs monitoring as a physiological assessment process, its outcomes, and its repercussions both ...
CoolBurst: Case Study
Though unintentional, the mindset of CoolBurst’s CEO Luisa Reboredo is at the center of the company’s stifled creativity. In reading the article it is apparent that Luisa truly cares about the company’s success but does not recognize the signs of anxiety that is obvious in her thought process. As a disclaimer, anyone experiencing Luisa’s situation should immediately contact a professional trained in mental health. While overstressing obsessively about the problem Luisa could not enjoy the art festival which could have sparked many creative solutions to the problem. Failing to exercise self-care in response to her ...

Issue: Criminal Accountability of UN Officials on mission
Position: Head Chair/Co-Chair Introduction The criminal accountability of the UN Officials on mission is one of the legal issues, which has been debated through the Legal Committee for numerous years. The legal gaps make it difficult for the UN to hold personnel accountable for crimes committed in the missions under its jurisdiction. The UN personnel are being currently accountable only to their countries and their legislation or being protected by the international legal statute of immunity. The lack of accountability makes the whole organization less credible and reliable. With two different groups of UN personnel the troop contributing countries ...
Integration of rhetoric on health and medicine provides a platform for scholars and students to explore the different schools of thought that contribute to the practice of modern medicine. Additionally, health researchers use rhetoric to understand the various resource backgrounds which enables them to share knowledge and experience in the shifting landscape of health and medicine. It is understood that the healthcare industry loses billions of money in cases where patients are negligent of the instructions and advices given by their doctors leading to high rates of non-compliance. In the recent past, scholars in the medical and health fields ...
Although preventive care service provision has a general guideline, to offer evidence-based practice, the medical practitioners are under obligation to ask the patient the following questions, among others. The family history concerning particular diseases like cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and other genetic diseases. In this regards, the nursing officer would establish the susceptibility of the patient to these conditions. Diagnosing of family members with such conditions may occur along the way and, therefore, it is important the nurse gets to know about it every time the patient visits the clinic. Today, the financial industry is more regulated than any other time in the history of economic globalization. However, the lack of fundamental professional behavior, ethics, and compliance raises the important question whether the current financial sector in Australia is destined for an endemic future. The persistent fraud cases in the Australian financial industry paints an impression that behaviors are yet to change even after experiencing the global financial predicament that emanated from the US. The recent ANZ suspected interbank interest rate rigging, CBA’s CommInsure denial of compensation to legitimate claims from terminally ill patients, and the Macquarie Group ...

Chapter 7
My general observation is that the society considers nurses as people who enhance the healthcare experience, while the real credit of serving healthcare, are taken by the physicians and the administrative staffs. Probably, a person admitted as an inpatient or admitted to the ICU would have realized the true value of nurses, but in general, the services of the nurse are often unappreciated and unrecognized. Though nurses engage in important healthcare activities, they are treated as subordinates and not as leaders of healthcare. Nurses rarely participate in decision making and in making a health plan. Lack of clear guidelines ...

A state has been perceived as a vital component of social and economic development. Most people regard effective administration as a main agent in the implementation, as well as the formulation of development programs. In the 1950s, several developing countries embraced various mechanisms for delivering political and economic benefits to people. This led to the expansion of public administration (Shafritz, Russell, & Borick, 2015). Additionally, the States took a leading role in accelerating development. The theories of public administration also developed during this time. However, tracing the point at which theory and practice of public administration began is not possible. ...
According to the Loc sin’s theory, individuals are seen to be greater than the sum of their parts. All the times, human beings are considered to be whole regardless of whether technology is utilized on them or even when they are sick (Locsin & Purnell, 2015). This theory expects nurses not just to try and fix the broken patients, but to care for the patients holistically. It encourages the mutual process between the nurse and the ones being nursed. I am greatly connected to this theory given the fact that I strongly believe that caring and technology can coexist ( ...

Differences in competencies between nurses prepared at the ADN versus the BSN
The nursing curriculum has been evolving over time to meet the needs and demands of the population which have been changing over time. In a bid to ensure that care delivery meets the optimal goals of recovery, restoration and sustaining a high quality of life, the basic foundation for the nursing profession has been on ensuring that the curriculum adequately prepares the nurses for the tasks ahead (Auerbach, Buerhaus, & Staiger, 2015). A particular response that the profession can refer is the Future of Nursing Report by the Institute of Medicine which required that nurses be allowed to the highest ...

Post-stroke dysphagia, a potentially fatal complication, affects an estimated 23-50% of all stroke survivors. It is associated with a seven fold increase in the risk for aspiration pneumonia. Aspiration pneumonia increases the catabolic demands of the body and in the settings of impaired swallowing leads to a vicious cycle of malnutrition, dehydration, and further infections (Shaker & Geenen, 2011). Dysphagia affects a significant number of patients with hemispheric stroke which is the main subtype of ischemic stroke in the general population (Kumar et al., 2011). The functions of swallowing are subserved by a vast brain network. The inferior peri-rolandic sensorimotor ...
Level of Education in Nursing
Level of Education in Nursing The nursing profession plays a huge role in delivering evidenced-based, safe, and high quality health care to patients. To be able to this, nurses must have the knowledge and skills that must be updated with the latest development in the medical field (Boz Yuksekdag, 2015). In the year 2010, the Institute of Medicine released a report that contains recommendations for the future of the nursing profession. It technically recommends the nurses’ continuance of knowledge through educational programs (Gooch, 2015). As a nurse, it is important to follow IOM’s recommendations to be aware of ...
1) Theories are to concepts as hypotheses are to variables. Hypotheses depend on tests that suggest multiple variables. On the other hand, theories are made up of concepts ("Theory and Practice of Social Research" 4). 2) Does a hypothesis propose a relationship between dimensions or variables? Yes. A hypothesis depends on the link that exists between two or several variables. Whereby, a slight change in variable ‘A,' leads to a change in variable ‘B.' In this case, it can be almost predictable that if the first event occurs on the first variable, then we expect variable ‘B' to ...
There are times when a nursing problem arises as a result of a number of findings, and these findings are pulled together into a summary in order to see the big picture created out of these findings. This act of pulling together is what Brown & Ochs (2018) calls a systematic research review (SRR) or systematic review, which helps researchers identify “what is known with certainty, what is tentatively known, and what the gaps in knowledge are regarding an issue” (p.175). It serves as a link between the individual studies performed and the decision making done in order to create ...

Of the many borrowed principles which are currently in use in the professional nursing world, the social exchange theory has proved to be very crucial as regards to the relationships which care providers have with their patients. The stability of relationships between different persons in the society is based on the interactions which they have amongst themselves. Furthermore, the benefits which an individual stands to gain from their relationships are what make them enter into coalitions (Cook et al., 2013). A balance in the relationships between different parties is the primary goal for people forming such coalitions. The core ...
Both the readings have a similar purpose and that is to explain what scientific research is and what its components are. Both of them are in the position to believe that science is not something that can be based on personal opinions; rather, it is based on evidence. Pring’s main argument is that the ontological dualism between quantitative and qualitative research are false (60). On the other hand, Chalmers strongly argues that in scientific research, the senses should be used objectively rather than subjectively (5). Both the scholars focus on scientific observation and how it should be done ...

Is Hand washing more effective in Infection Reduction versus Gel Hand Sanitizers?
Introduction
Today, the burden of health care-associated infections (HCAIs) are drawing attention not only from governments and health care regulatory bodies but also from patients and more so from health care practitioners (HCPs) themselves. This phenomenon is not merely because of the magnitude of the problem regarding the associated incidences of mortality, cost, and complexity of treatment, and morbidity, but also due to the growing recognition and understanding that, most of these complications are preventable. The medical fraternity is thus witnessing in tandem unprecedented improvements in the spread ...

What Happens Immediately to Charlie
With two distinct suspension packages in a row adding up to 13 days, the immediate implication would be a change of Chrlie’s placement. This would involve movement from his current placement to an IEAS (Küpper & Rebhorn, 2007). The choice for an IEAS for Charlie’s placement will solely be left to his IEP team, after which he would be removed after the decision is made (Zehler et al., 2003). Charlie would have to remain in his IEP’s choice IAES pending manifestation determination and his removal from his current placement.

The legalization of Euthanasia is an ethical concern in Canada. Euthanasia refers to the process of medical assistance in dying. It is one of the easiest methods to terminate the life of a person who may be having a terminal illness like cancer and HIV/Aids in their lasts stages. However, some people argue that the individual must be sure that they have to die in the end. Recently, the Canadian legislator changed the rule and advocated for euthanasia among the terminally ill patients. The law is unethical as most people do not identify with the effects of the law ...
In the case study of Guy Roberts, it is possible to recognize various stages of development when the group involved in fraudulent activities at Millard construction attempt to exercise control over him. The offer contained higher basic salary and petrol allowance but no annual bonus. It was a good offer, considering that Millard construction was a larger company than Fry Bras. Guy was yet to realize that there are groups ...
Critical design/design fiction originates from graphic design authorship. Critical design utilizes design as a medium to display political, social, economic, and cultural issues. This approach has a close association to contemporary product design and is closely related to graphic design authorship, and the objects in critical design serve the function of acting as polemical actors. Besides, critical design consists of contemporary designers who have a critical attitude towards mainstream product design. These designers borrow from recent commercial design despite distancing themselves from it. Design fiction raises various themes in its agenda such as sexuality, technology, and genetics among others. ...
1. Carper’s pattern of knowing can be used in the process of nursing interaction. It can guide nurses on what they have to communicate while talking to the patient, family and fellow colleagues.
