Incarceration of Women
The number of incarcerated women has increased at a dramatic rate in many US correctional institutions (Talvi, 2007). The increased rise in the number of women in prisons can be attributed to increased cases of minor property crime and change in sentencing policies such as mandatory prison sentences.
