It is 1987 in New York City, and the audience is introduced to our main character, Patrick Bateman, who appears instantly as an intellectual, wealthy, young, playboy, who plays investment banker by day and serial killer by night. The dichotomy of this film is that the viewer is dealing with what seems to be an upper-class, possibly narcissistic, young man in the prime of his life with a beautiful fiancé and plenty of women willing to be with Patrick who do not acknowledge the engagement Patrick has with another woman. Then, on the other hand, you have a man ...

As a nurse, it is important to know the scopes and limitations of one’s practice. This is because this can certainly spell the difference between a highly successful treatment regimen for a patient and a disastrous one—perhaps even one that ends in litigation. In this paper, I used the 5 Rs of reflection namely reporting, responding, relating, reasoning, and reconstructing to outline one of the meaningful experiences in my nursing practice. One of the most meaningful experiences wherein I was able to use my knowledge of Attribute 2.5 of the NMBA Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse ...

Antigone is a dreadful tragedy written around 441 BC by the Sophocles. It was the last of the Theban plays but chronologically written first. The other pieces of Sophocles have attracted more controversy and nothing has inspired people more than Antigone (Lewis, p. 35). It is an outline of achievements of man, modern in its tone deceptively, has impressed many, and most probably, it is said if it is attached with, choral odes would turn to this poem. It was written at a time of a national intensity or fervor. When the play was performed, Sophocles was known to ...
Lewis Black’s One Slight Hitch is a delightful comedy based in the year of 1981. A play on words, not only is the character Courtney Coleman (Jenna Morris) getting hitched that day, her ex-boyfriend shows up causing a slight hitch in the day. The dynamic between her straight-laced fiancé Harper (Conor Farrell) and her free spirited, Jack Karouac loving ex-boyfriend Ryan (Brian Heaton) as well as her straight-laced parents creates a wonderful comedy. The play group was excellent, bringing together impeccable acting, fun scenic designs and appropriate costuming to produce a thoroughly entertaining two-act play. It is little ...

The appreciation for the literary craftsmanship of Franz Kafka cannot be understated. In fact, according to one journal article’s assessment by Berthoff, “Lovers of literature are forever indebted” to the writer’s friend Max Brod, “who ignored Kafka’s ‘last request’ to destroy all his manuscripts and proceeded to edit and publish” some of his novels (499). Also at the outset it is important to recognize that the original language Kafka wrote in was German, although he spoke in Czech. According to the same source Kafka’s office writings had been informed by – or at least and influencing ...

Brett Ashley is both the modern woman and the traditional one, but she only resembles them since she cannot be labeled due to her prominent individuality. However, she does not let men guide her through life and she does not take money for sexual favors. Therefore, she is a complex character who takes what she wants with the use of her sex-appeal as power. Her male friends ...
I remember when I was a little kid, I always wondered what it meant to have a successful marriage like my mom and dad. There were things about the concept that I did not understand and I wanted to know because even though I never saw my parents make out like other couples, it still made me wonder what it took to get to that point. My father would often tell me about what it took to make a relationship work and the sacrifices that couples had to make in order to make each other happy, it was more of an obligatory ...
