According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the prevalence of obesity among children has tripled from 6.5% in 1980 to 18.6% as of 2008. This is contrary to the prevalence of adults which has doubled. An effective solution for the overall problem of obesity should therefore focus more on children.
