Overview of the Crisis Two bizarre incidents in a short period leading to the death of passengers and crew leave Malaysia Airlines struggling to recover. On July 17, a Boeing 777-aircraft, flight MH17 was shot down from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. All 298 passengers and crew members died in the incident (Torr, & Walker, 2014, pp. 23). Families and employees were left devastated as the crisis unravelled. Malaysia Airlines flew to the assistance.
