The term “American Dream” can be described as the traditional social ideals of freedom, equality and opportunity achievable by all individuals in the U.S. It traces its roots to the declaration of American independence when everyone was regarded to be equal and endowed with inalienable rights to life, pursuit to happiness and liberty. It established an ideology which provided for freedoms guaranteeing success, upward social mobility accomplished through determination and hard work.
