How the Popular Music Audience has changed with Time
The music industry has attracted a large number of listeners over the decades. However, the audience has evolved considerably over the years due to developments in music production and distribution technologies over time. Some of the factors that have facilitated change in music audience include music style, performance style, musical instruments, as well as rhythm and pitch that have changed with technological revolution (Mauch, MacCallum, Levy, & Leroi, 2015). As the technologies in the music instrumentation and production transformed over time, the melody and rhythm of music artifacts changed as well; making it more appealing to a particular group of ...

The Research Method Introduction The research method is an essential part of the research design as it determines the framework in what type of data is collected and how it is utilized to address the central research problem and answer the research questions (Creswell, 2013). Therefore, effort is directed to evaluate what research method should be utilized in the case study so as to understand the impact of mining and quarrying activities in the Akamkpa mining region located in Nigeria (Creswell, 2013). Research methods are practical ways for conducting research and require that the research scope, problem and questions ...
I have recently visited Demi Lovato’s concert at the Hersheypark Stadium. The pop singer has performed her best songs and the most expected event was her duet with Nick Jonas, because they are both to participate together in the huge tour Future Now. They are great professional singers and usually gather full concert halls and surprise their audience, but the settings, sound, instrumentation and overall technical supplying always play a crucial role in their performances. Hersheypark Stadium has been a great option to conduct a concert, because it has been the largest and the most prominent outdoor place ...
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between social networking and face-to-face communication with respect to their influence on the social interaction skills. The first aim of the research has to determine whether there is a causal relationship between use of social networking tools and face-to-face communication behaviors. The research aims to investigate the hypothesis. There will be a statistically significant difference in change/gain scores for communication behaviors between the experimental group and the control group; Face-to-face communication is associated with the students’ social media networking habits (i.e. time spent on social media networking). There will ...
Music as a cultural and social genre may be used to communicate various aspects of people’s cultural and even political systems. Several Jamaican music songs convey different messages that depict the political and cultural aspects of the Jamaican people and the values in the society. The use of characters in these genres is also significant in conveying a variety of messages to the intended audience. Using the literary style of repetition, some of these songs we listen to tend to emphasize their message to the public by always mentioning the keywords and messages of the artists. In this ...

The current government has consistently been trying to reduce the costs of healthcare and at the same time improve its quality. This paper focuses on the current state of healthcare through an extensive research on the population. The research uses a cross sectional design to collect data and come up with relevant conclusions. The research project aimed at using a homogenous population to come up with accurate results. Such a population involves participants who have the same knowledge about the subject. Such participants are easily obtained through a referral process where one participant refers another. A total of 50 ...
The article Empowering Frontline Nurses: A Structured Intervention Enables Nurses to Improve Medication Administration Accuracy mainly focuses on the precautionary safety measures that should be adhered to when providing patients with the medications. Medical errors have always taken a toll on the quality of services that patients receive in most hospitals. Such errors have long been documented in the form of surveys and studies. The ...
Quasi-experiments are research designs that attempt to mimic an experimental design. However, the researcher cannot control the assignment of study participants to groups: a key feature for true experiments (Wadsworth, n.d.). This paper explores quasi-experiments as a research design.
Part 1
Advantages of Quasi-experiments Firstly, quasi-experiments, as the name suggests, are not true experiments. They contain elements of both a true experimental and correlational research (Jackson, 2012). Therefore, they allow the researcher to obtain stronger conclusion compared to when they conduct a pure correlational research. Secondly, quasi-experiments are useful in circumstances when conducting a true experiment is either infeasible or very ...
Music refers to an art and cultural event whose medium is silence and sound. It is performed by a wide range of instruments, and several vocal techniques ranging from singing to clapping. Music is composed and performed for various purposes ranging from religious or ceremonial purposes to aesthetic pleasure as well as an entertainment product for the individuals. It expresses emotions and ideas through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm and dynamics (Potter, 2012). Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich changed the way we hear our world. It is a great piece for finding different nuances and hearing ...
In an article about hip hop music and its intersection with jazz, Jared Pauley writes that both genres have often flirted with each other. Over the years, hip hop artists have utilized the flavor of jazz music through sampling. In the 1980s to the mid-1990s, hip hop acts "took jazz samples to the top of the charts while others worked directly with respected jazz musicians. With the new millennium, this trend continued" (1). One artist that has continued the trend is Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar is an emcee that has been on the scene for a number of years, ...
Summary of the Seminar Content
The seminar which I attended had a talk on the overview of hydrology and gravity, instrumentation, modelling and monitoring of artificial recharge, the monitoring of channel infiltration, and the future of hydro geophysics in general. Each of these and subtopics is described below
Hydro geophysics
Hydro geophysics is the measurement of the change of gravity to enable the monitoring of the soil moisture, the ground water flow and the infiltration parameters. A good number of geophysical methods are narrowed by the relationship between identified property such as electrical resistivity and the characteristic of interest such as moisture. Improving the resolution of ...

Billy Joel’s 1973 song “Piano Man” is one of the most popular pop songs of its era, and an endlessly catchy and fascinating song to listen to. A piano and harmonica-driven ballad about a piano lounge singer and the characters that inhabit that lounge, Joel provides wonderfully clear, tenor singing to back up sprightly instrumentation
The song begins with a piano solo that has its roots in jazz improvisation; syncopated piano playing starts out the song, uneven rhythms providing an explosion of music right at the beginning before the song settles into its harmonica-and-piano melody. A steady 3/4 tempo ...
Jimi Hendrix’s cover of the Bob Dylan folk song, “All Along the Watchtower,” adapts the song from Dylan’s mellow and malicious folk song to an exuberant, angry rock anthem for young people in the late 1960s. Under Jimi’s alterations, the instrumentation turns ominous and aggressive, his exuberant vocals sounding almost pleading. The song contains a limited chord structure and longer-than-usual musical sections, as well as unsettling improvisation and call-and-response from the vocals and guitar. The combination of all these musical elements make the listener, especially one who was young in 1968 (when the song was ...
Introduction
Experiments are designed to test the hypothesis. In an experimental design or design of experiment (DOE), participants are assigned to variable conditions in an experiment. Usually, experiments are designed in such a way that participants are divided into two groups, i.e. a control group and an experimental group, and then a change is introduced in the experimental group to determine the outcome. There are two important types of experimental design; True experiments and Quasi-experiments. Both types of experimental designs are used to check the cause of some particular phenomenon.
Types of each design
True Experiments In a true experiment, subjects or participants are randomly assigned to ...
Of all the myriad ways in which the 60s counterculture challenged perceived notions of morality and the status quo, the anti-war song was perhaps its most popular. Given the stakes and devastation of the Vietnam War, which necessitated the draft and angered an increasingly independent and rebellious generation, songwriting and instrumentation increasingly took on these pacifist subtexts. From a Neo-Confucian perspective, the case of Jimi Hendrix’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” defies the Confucian ideal of yayue, combining aggressive instrumentation with its cryptic vocals to create an atmosphere conducive to an anti-war, rebellious morality (consistent ...
1. Introduction The electrical energy is generated to bring some development to the world. The electrical energy lights the world during night time. People can do their work even during night time without any disturbance because the electrical energy replaces the sun during night time. The energy is neither be created nor be destroyed. The electrical energy is generated by converting other form of energy. Generally mechanical energy is converted in to electrical energy. The electrical energy is generated by different methods; say hydro thermal energy generation, diesel power generation, gas power generation, and nuclear power generation. The ...

Nations are often defined by their music – music has been used for centuries to depict the patriotism and values of a state or country, and America is no exception. The history of America’s patriotic music in particular is fascinating, and traces the country’s evolution from British offshoot, to bombastic independent nation, all the way through the difficulties of the Civil War, two World Wars, Vietnam and beyond. More than just anthems, American patriotic music allows music historians to track the national consciousness at the time at which these songs were penned and popularized – the way people sing about ...

Culture can be defined as the attitude, attributes and behavioral pattern that determine individual interaction. This is seen in all humans in the possession of certain personal attributes that assist in setting apart individuals from any generalization as it is known that not even two individuals can behave in the same manner which is the same way in which organizations posses specific values, policy, regulations and operating guidelines that are fundamental in creation of a personal image. As such it is important to understand that every organization posses a unique cultural setting that distinguishes it from other organizations and provides it ...
Final Essay: Meditation and Conflict Management
When legal researcher Erin Brockovich blew the whistle on California utility company PG&E in the early 1990s, the subsequent tortfeasor lawsuit Anderson vs. PG&E, resulting in a $333 million landmark settlement to the plaintiffs in 1993, established a new baseline for damages in respect to environmental violations by a corporation (Girardi & Keese). Analysis of the legal representation of 650 residents in the City of Hinkley, California, by Brockovich’s employer, by law firm Girardi and Keese expiates the limitations of mediation and conflict management leading up to litigation of gross negligence cases. The case alleging defendant corporation, PG&E’s contamination of ...

Blood pressure is a principal vital sign that is examined by physicians. This is the pressure that circulating blood exerts on the walls of the blood vessels (Irwin & Rippe, 2008, Pp. 132). There are normal ranges of blood pressure, ranges upon which assessment is done so that blood pressure figures above or below signify an anomaly in the body systems (Criner, Barnette & D'alonzo, 2010, Pp. 187). As such, it is important for healthcare providers to be knowledgeable on how to assess blood pressure. This essay is a reflection on a skill learnt in the lab skills on how to use the manual ...
The experience at the music concert
The music concert always provides an opportunity to learn new things and explore new grounds in music. Entertainment guaranteed that learning and experience do not fail the expectations of the audience. At the performance, many stages spiced the event, although a few of them deemed outstanding. Initially, the vocalists made the whole event awesome. Musical vocal techniques proved just what I learnt about making a performance the best. The musical blend of voices and a wide range of musical prowess among the vocalists meant that the whole performance rejuvenated by well-organised voices and brilliant vocals. Vocal range among the vocalists proved the ...

Funding is requested from the National Science Foundation in order to carry out proposed research based on the calorimetric study of enthalpy, Gibb’s energy, and entropy. The technique of calorimetric experimentation has changed a great deal from the early 1960s when studies of the heat ionization of water were conducted. The first adiabatic bomb calorimeters were very simple and controlling the difference in temperature between the inside and outside jackets was hard to control. The difference in temperature needs to be as small as possible, close to an infinitesimal amount. Technology has developed to sophisticated levels. The automatic capabilities ...

The Purcell theme is clearly shown in the orchestra at the outset and there is also a great set of interesting variations which have been stated section by section. At the end, there is fugue which is an overlaying of the initial Purcell theme just before the last coda. There is terrific fugue and fantastic variations. Benjamin Britten has used theme and variations while Bach has used fugue. Theme and variations simply indicate after the theme, the composer utilizes the different elements of music in various ways for each variation . For example, the composer can vary the meter, tonal centers, ...

Question 1
Brand positioning is essential for companies wishing to develop competitive advantage in a market. Strategies for brand positioning are based on two main platforms, competitors and consumers. Quality and price of a product are the two main attributes used for effective positioning of a product. This was also confirmed by Michael Porters when he came up with the generic strategy for competitive advantage. According to porter’s generic strategy, there are three approaches that can be applied to any product in any industry for competitive positioning in a market. The three approaches include, cost leadership, differentiation, and market focus. Differentiation entails creating a unique ...

The usefulness of a study or research is usually dependent on the accuracy and level of confidence of the findings. This will be subject to the procedures and steps as well as the variables used when carrying out the research. The level of accuracy and confidence of a research is determined by its validity; which is the level with which correct inferences are made from the research study results. A researcher always considers the confidence that all observations are from the given variables and the research was not manipulated. Such a kind of confidence shows the internal validity. Researchers use outcomes of ...
Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry Analysis (GC-MS) is a technique that incorporates chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques in separating and identifying constituents in a sample. According to Erika, Josefina and Maria (2011), the major goal of the technique is in quantifying an amount of a sample, which is done by comparing the relative concentrations among the atomic masses in the produced spectrum. The sample that needs to be quantified is organic and volatile, or semi volatile. The GC part is used to separate is essential in carrying out separation techniques where mixtures are isolated from their constituents using a temperature-controlled capillary column. The thesis of the book is that we listen to music in a number of different ways, using different levels – the sensuous plane, the expressive plane, and the sheerly musical plane. These levels provide a unique sense to the music experience, but when combined, they can allow you to enjoy the music as completely as possible.
My personal version of the thesis for this essay would be that it is important for us to understand the role of these different levels of listening to music, so that we may gain a better understanding of the music itself – how it makes us feel, ...
