The historians and politicians present different reasons for the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq and the development of a global coalition to expel Saddam’s forces from Kuwait. Among the reasons for the First Persian Gulf War, historians claim that the war was caused by Iraq’s historical claim on Kuwaiti region; Kuwait consistently failed to control their production quotas; Kuwait rejected Iraq’s request to lease bordering oil fields; Kuwait offered only $ 9 billion as damages for slant drilling; and Kuwait failed to respect the oil rates decided by the OPEC.
