Abstract
The research topic is relevant due to the ongoing discussions about the historical role of Abraham Lincoln in the national history of the United States of America. Since now there have been absolutely opposite assessments of the presidency of Lincoln: from the openly apologetic to almost offensive. In the first case, the 16th President of the United States appears before us as the Savior of American democracy, the liberator of slaves and statesman, to prevent the collapse of the United States.
