The systems that can adapt in reaction to unanticipated external disturbances and events during their operation are called autonomous systems . These systems have capability of self-adaptation, self-configuration, self-monitoring, tuning, and other kinds of adjustment without requiring external control input . Autonomous systems are also referred to as self-managed systems due to their independence from external controls. These systems are built such that their components satisfy the design intent in the presence of small perturbations, external disturbances, noise, or other environmental changes. In realm of control systems theory, autonomous systems carry the similar concept mentioned above. Talking in terms of state ...

Based on measurements, complete the table below: Discussion: Discuss the application of common collector transistor circuit. The common collector configuration of the BGJ amplifier is mostly commonly employed as buffer or emitter follower. The voltage gain of the common collector amplifier is nearly unity and provides large current amplification. It is used in applications where current sourcing is required without modifying the voltage. The input resistance is quite high so it draws negligible current from source. Moreover, the load circuit will not interfere ...

Discussion:
Using the measurements made in the procedure, calculate the quiescent current IE, and the internal emitter resistance re. The quiescent current IE and internal emitter resistance re can be calculated using the DC analysis carried out in Step#1 and Step#2 of the procedure. The DC voltage measured across RE is used to measure the biasing current across the emitter of BJT. The voltage is measured to be 793mV. Since RE = 1KΩ, so: IE=VERE=0.7931000=0.000793A=0.793mA.
Now, we can calculate the internal resistance of emitter using the formula provided in the procedure. So:
re=0.026IE=0.0260.000793=32.786Ω
Using the values obtained in the experiment; draw the small-signal ac equivalent circuit for the amplifier.
In this part, we will draw the small scale ...

It is the belief of most people that when stronger law enforcements are applied, it will help in getting the drugs off the market, thereby making the streets to become safe. However, the evidence that exists with the Drug Abuse Council challenges this belief. The council confirmed that an increase in the price of one bag of street heroin in any given month from $7 to $9, there would be an increase in the number of revenue-raising crimes from 11,000 per month to 12,000 per month due to heroin trade alone (Friedman 1).

Introduction
The cost of manufacturing ammonia using the Haber process plant constitutes the following components: the cost of energy, raw materials, equipment, labor and sparking substances (catalysts). Energy (gas or electricity) costs are incurred to maintain the temperature of the reaction. The Harber process is operated at very high temperatures, and pressures thus higher costs of energy are incurred. Some of the raw materials consumed in the Haber process such as nitrogen and hydrogen are recovered at the end of the process. The recovered materials are recycled back to the system to reduce the cost of raw materials. Starting and ...

Changing a mindset is extremely difficult, especially for a person who is juggling all of the commitments of a busy life—a full-time job, family obligations, showing up for social occasions, and the like. It seems to be simple human nature to go along in life making incremental changes, but never really examining the underlying assumptions that our days are based upon. Entrepreneurs may have certain character attributes that give them the capacity to distance themselves from the urgent—what to wear, who to hire, how to soothe the boss—to focus on the truly important—what is meaningful, ...
Introduction
The concept of changing mindset transcends to both the personal perspective of every individuals to shift from career to entrepreneurship and the organizational perspective of shifting into a learning organization. Furthermore, the concept of changing mindset will be elaborated by analyzing a case study and the article by Seddon and O’Donnovan (2010). In he first part, the changing mindset was demonstrated by the case of Andy who successfully established a small business instead of staying in his career. It is apparent from the case that changing from career into a small business entrepreneur can be a challenge, but ...

Psychology: Baddeley’s Working Memory
Introduction – Baddeley’s Working Memory Short term memory is an important aspect in human lives as it influences behavior and outcomes in daily lives in more ways than one – of which the role played in development of working memory is an important factor. Even though short term memory is considered to have significant differences from working memory, they are considered to be related by eminent psychologists. The most common factor behind this perspective is that both short term memory and working memory are involved in the storage of information temporarily in an individual. Working memory can be best described ...

Term and Year Skin-to-Skin Contact for Neonates The separation of mother and neonate for non-urgent medical reasons is a growing trend in nursing practice. However, research has indicated that the practice can have a deleterious long term effect on the healthy infant and mother with regard to breast feeding, cardio-respiratory stability, and blood glucose levels (Moore, Anderson, Bergman, & Dowswell, (2014). The solution to the problem is to initiate skin-to-skin contact at birth (Moore, et al., 2014). The nursing focused plan is to introduce the practice of skin-to-skin contact following birth, which entails placing the naked infant prone on the ...

Background and Theory
Ohm’s Law. According to Alexander and Sadiku (2013), “Ohm’s Law states that the voltage v across a resistor is directly proportional to the current i flowing through the resistor” (p. 31). The constant of proportionality is the element’s resistance, R, which depends on several factors that will not be analyzed in this report. The equation for Ohm’s Law is then: v=iR (where v: voltage, i: current and R: resistance). The units for ...
Question 1
With older electromechanical controls, the operator used to typically be located physically in closer proximity to the process, and therefore had direct sensory perception of the status of the process (e.g., sound, vibration, light) (Leveson 2011). Under computerized and digitalized controls, the operator no longer has a sensory perception of the status, other than what is viewed on the computer. This requires whomever is designing the control system to determine what information is important to the controller, and that the information provided in the feedback loop between the process and what is reported on the screen is complete and ...
Introduction
System thinking crops from management as a discipline and it is mainly concerned with understanding systems by studying the components that link and interact to make up the system. System thinking requires the understanding of how systems work, and it is a comprehensive way of finding faults in order to correct and improve their status. The importance of system thinking is that it helps to understand the working of a system. The more integrated a system gets, the more it can achieve its dedicated objectives. System thinking, therefore, entails the breaking down of individual components of the organization in ...
Sensors detect an input event and control an output event. The output often requires different timing than that of the input event. Sometimes several inputs must jointly produce an output event. In other words, logic alters the raw sensor signal so that it is directly useful for controlling local action in response to sensed events (Ouzounov et al., 2006). A sensor is an interactive application; it expresses interest in an event by defining a sensitive ‘region' and an event type. For example, if a sensor wishes to receive events directed to a geographical object, it can define its region ...

Albert Bandura was a prominent researcher who advanced a key behavioral theory that he later referred to as social cognitive theory, or SCT. The cornerstone of SCT is that people learn via observation (Denler et al., 2014, p. 1). Moreover, Bandura states that people’s personalities are not only molded or shaped by their environment, but people also affect their environment (Denler et al., 2014, p. 1). Thus, Bandura takes classical conditioning and operant conditioning one step further by asserting that there is a multi-faceted interaction between a person, their environment, and subsequent behaviors (Denler et al., 2014, p. ...

SORTING ALGORITHMS
INTRODUCTION Two sorting algorithms are studied in this paper: bubble sort and quicksort. Bubble sort is a comparison-type algorithm. It compares the elements of the array two at a time. It starts comparing from left to right of the array elements. The element with the greater value is placed on the right, and then compared to the next element. This is done until the largest element is placed at the end of the array. At this point, the largest sorted element is considered sorted, while the rest of the elements are unsorted. The algorithm is repeated for the remaining ...

Cephalexin and Gentamicin The mechanism of action of amoxicillin is focused on the prevention of the synthesis of the bacteria’s cell wall through the binding and inhibiting of the cell wall transpeptidases (Katzung, Masters, and Trevor, 2012). Specifically, it attaches to the penicillin-binding protein 1A found in the cell wall of bacteria. Then, the agent disintegrates the lactam ring to allow the acylation of the penicillin-sensitive transpeptidase C-terminal domain. The formation of the cross-link of the linear peptidoglycan strands is prevented by the inactivation of transpeptidases. Since the third and last stage ...
Stand-alone Power Supply and Heating Systems
An individual’s carbon footprint is mainly decided by energy consumed to run various household appliances and energy used for home heating. Electric power supplied to grid-connected households is mostly derived from fossil fuels, and thus leads to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, homes in remote areas cannot afford grid power supply, and they use renewable natural sources available to them such as solar power, wind power, hydroelectric power or geothermal energy. Even, houses that can be connected to the power grid can opt for stand-alone power systems to reduce GHG emissions. Most common form of off-grid power system ...

Kirchhoff’s law states that the total of the emf values in a closed loop equals the sum of the potential drops in that loop. Kirchhoff’s first and second laws are used to verify that in a closed loop, energy is neither created nor destroyed (Scherz, Paul, and Simon Monk 2013). Energy is converted from one form to another. Electric charge is given the necessary energy to flow in the circuit by the electromotive force source, preferable batteries into circuit elements. Electrical energy is converted into heat energy recorded as impedance in capacitors, resistors, or inductors. In the ...

Couples therapy usually involves a lot of emotion, but emotion is usually not used to appeal to the clients as the reason to make changes in their relationship. In emotionally focused couples therapy, this is exactly the appeal. The past is looked at, not just during the relationship and what problems developed throughout the partnership, but well before that. Patterns are discovered and addressed that may have developed as children or early in their relationship history, with other partners. There may or may not be “breakthroughs,” but the ultimate goal is for each member of the relationship to be ...
