In the last few centuries, our understanding of universe has grown by leaps and bounds. Before seventeenth century, people generally believed that the Earth is at centre of the universe and all heavenly bodies move around the Earth. Galileo challenged the idea and published his papers in support of Copernican heliocentric theory that the Earth and other planets move around the Sun. Our understanding of universe grew further. We realized that the Sun is not unique and there are hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy, which are brighter ...

1. In the opinion of Omachonu and Ross (2004), the criteria for determining what to do are cost, time, technical specifications, quality, and finally modeling the firm with a leading company. 5. Firstly, quality attitude is considered because it pervades the whole firm. Quality is not a mere unique activity controlled by quality director in a high-ranking position (Omachonu & Ross, 2004). Establishing a suitable vision and culture is a problem faced by top management. Secondly, the infrastructure of the company is considered to back up the perceived attitude. Firms should have a system and means to get targets, assign them to the right individuals, ...

Germination is the process by which a plant develops from a seed and grows in optimal conditions where temperature and water available is suitable for the transformation of a seed into a plant. The conditions are favorable when the right balance of air, moisture and temperature are reached that stimulate the seed to come out of hibernation and start sprouting a root and shoot that starts the process of germination(Bewley, J. Derek, et al). Mostly, germination is the growth of embryonic seeds. When a seed is germinating and fertilizing, it produces an embryo where an embryo is present after fertilization and this embryo gets ...
Discussing the Use of Idioms in the English Language
INTRODUCTION When we hear phrases like, “it is raining cats and dogs,” “a knight in shining armor,” and “once in a blue moon.” These phrases, or idioms, are not necessarily “self explanatory” and yet we seem to know what they mean, or at least we think we do (Oxford Royale Academy 2014). In order, respectively, they are saying that it is raining heavily, someone came to my rescue, and the last are things that happen very rarely. However, the understanding of these phrases is not innate. You may understand them, I may understand them but to someone who is unfamiliar ...

Man has always been curious and been investigating the nature of things. He has probed into the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of all phenomena observed. As science evolved, he came up with laws and equations to represent these observations. For many decades, if not centuries, he was satisfied with explaining everything around him using what is today known as ‘Classical Mechanics’. All bodies and phenomena observed could be explained by Newton’s Laws and his equations of motion. In fact this developed into the branch of Classical Mechanics and saw a huge leap in the field of Science. Be it describing ...

The universe contains 100 billion galaxies. Each of these galaxies has billions of stars, great gas and dust clouds with others having scads of moons and planets. The stars release an abundance of energy either from radio waves, X-rays or from other forms of energy that run at a speed of light across the universe. However, all that can be seen is like the tip of the cosmic iceberg and accounts for a small portion of the total energy and mass in the universe. About one-quarter portion of the universe is made up of dark matter that does not release any ...
ABSTRACT:
A plasmid DNA is an extra-small circular structure commonly found in bacteria which is capable of replicating by itself in the cell. These are used in genetic engineering as vehicles to carry and make copies of a particular gene which can produce desirable effect. In this report, we discuss the isolation and purification of DNA fromEGFP-LC3 plasmidusing a modified alkaline lysis method and QIAprep spin columns. The concentration of the isolated EGFP-LC3 plasmid DNA was found to be 82.868µg/ml. The ratio of ODs taken at A260nm/A280nm was found to be 5.314 which could be because improper washing step which has ...
Cell phone use has effects and impacts in the long run when health and risks are concerned. Studies have shown that there are effects that are associated with the use of cell phones. There is some amount of electromagnetic radiations that are emitted by all cell phones. This is a point of concern with the way in which mobile phones are used with a close proximity to the head while they are being used. The main point of contention is the amount of radiation that can be considered to be safe and that one which can be considered to be harmful ...
Principle Gel Electrophoresis is a method used in the laboratory for the separation of charged molecules like nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and proteins that differ in size or charge (Agarose gel electrophoresis (basic method)). LB (Lithium Borate) buffer is the widely used buffer in agarose gel electrophoresis. The buffer solution comprises of Lithium hydroxide monohydrate and boric acid. LB buffer has low conductivity which can run at a high speed (5-50V/cm) than the gels which are made of TBE or TAE buffers (5-10 V/cm) which in turn reduces the run time drastically (Brody 6).
