Eliot’s poem, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” was the author’s first published works. At the time, it was considered unusual as modernism was new. Though the piece seems to centre around the theme of love, the nature of its speaker, and perhaps of modernism itself, leads the reader to an end where the love is never fulfilled.
