Bhaisajyaguru Bhaisajyaguru is from the 8th century and belongs to Nara period, which is considered the most outstanding period of Buddhist art in Japan (Indian Influence on the Art of Japan 71). Buddhism was introduced in the country during the mid-sixth century. Looking at the sculpture of Bhaisajyaguru, the gray metallic tone of bronze lends it a dark and heavy look.
