In countries around the world, children are suffering and dying from malnutrition, disease, and poverty secondary to drought or flooding. Changes in climate create many risks to the lives of children and their families as they struggle to survive in areas where food is difficult to grow and workers are poorly paid. Due to the increase in temperature and extreme weather conditions brought on by climate change, many communities are expected to suffer scarcity of clean water with the result of perilous diseases and health complications. These are stored and transmitted in compressed formats (Sprawls, 2017). Computers are able to produce descriptive information about a ...

While on the other hand, number 9 appears only 5% of the times as the most significant number. The law states ...
1. Response to Kirsten Frazier Yes Kirsten, you rightly said that the present number system invented by the Hindus was actually a cue taken from the Babylonian system. Indefinite spacing between numbers led to the invention of zero (Berlinghoff, 2004, p. 67). The Babylonian system was a sexagesimal system; with base 60. Big spaces were used between numbers to show larger shifts in place values. The Hindu numerals also utilized the addition system of the Egyptian system. Before zero was invented, the Babylonians could feel the empty spaces between numbers and they could see their absence. Historians have evidences ...

How can companies develop compensation systems that are both internally consistent and market competitive?
A company’s compensation system is one of the factors that attract employees and especially those that have been in the industry for a long time. Small companies may not be able to pay the highly qualified personnel. However, a good compensation package can attract them. Designing a favorable compensation program is quite tricky for any company whether a startup company or a long existing company. If unrealistic compensation methods are applied the probability of a company collapsing are very high (Dechow, Myers, & Shakespeare 13). Some of the sustainable methods include:

The statistics show that income of educated Americans has been increasing at a faster rate than the increase in student debt and the increased annual income can pay the additional debt within two to three years (Akers & Chingos, 2014). 1. The beginning of mathematics dates back to any civilization ever formed, which developed a form of writing. Use of numbers, shapes and basic mathematical operations could be seen in almost every civilization, in the form of quantification in crafts, trade and work. On studying construction sites, anthropologists could clearly conclude that some amount of mathematical understanding prevailed in the people. Evidences found in the rectangular bases of buildings, in the designs of weaving patterns, basketry; craft etc. all prove that there existed an understanding of mathematics even in early civilizations. In about 500BC, trade and tax laws were ...
Megan Ybarra and Paul Greenough examines the politics of ecology management in different academic works. The two works have similarities and contradictions between them, with some of the arguments rhyming with the popular beliefs while others are contradictory. In the article titled Bio-Ironies of the Fractured Forest appearing on the Series called In Search of The Rain Forest, Mr Greenough examines different hypotheses on conservation and the relationship between the wildlife and human beings which he refers to as “bio-ironies”). The first bio-irony discussed is that the modern exercise of conservation banishes conventional inhabitants of the forest only to ...

Healthcare organizations face a big problem now when it comes to nurse staffing and scheduling. There appears a big scarcity problem in the number of nurses when assigned per patient. It’s a principle that provides the basic and the essential part in the mathematics of sorting and even counting. This principle was introduced by Johann Peter Gustav Lejeune Dirichlet in 1834. He called it the shelf principle or drawer principle. However, many people appreciate his insight and call it the Dirichlet drawer principle. The name pigeonhole was introduced in 1940 by Raphael Robinson. In the literal sense, pigeonholes refer to shelves or holes used to place pigeons. Thus, the principle roughly states that if one has a given number of boxes and a given number of items to ...

1. Compute the elasticities for each independent variable. Note: Write down all of your calculations. The demand estimation as follows: QD = -3,500 - 150P + 30A + 75PX + 10Y. When P=300, A=750, PX=200, and Y=10,000. Placing these numbers into equation: QD=-3,500-150(300)+30(750)+75(200)+10(10,000)=QD=-3,500-45,000+22,500+15,000+100,000=89,000. Under given these numbers, we have 89,000 products demanded. Price elasticity of demand is [d(QD)/d(P)]/[QD/P]. Therefore, we take a derivative of the function subject to price, and we assume other variables do not ...

Youths are not generally tried in adult court for the crimes that they commit. This is because most of the crimes committed by youths are not serious enough to justify incarcerating them alongside adult offenders. Most youths are tried in juvenile court and are sentenced to serve time in juvenile detention facilities if convicted. However, this does not apply to youths who are convicted of more serious crimes, such as murder. The age at which a person can be tried in adult versus juvenile court differs between states. In forty-one states the maximum age of a juvenile before being ...
