ABSTRACT
Pilot uniforms, particularly in the commercial airline industry, conveys professionalism, competence, and experience. However, historically, uniforms started as a component of safety in aviation, which relied not just in their protective functions but as well in their capability to protect combat pilots from the natural elements of extreme heat and cold, particularly during the era of open cockpits. Protective flight clothing has evolved significantly through decades and even centuries.
