The affordable Care Act 2015 formerly christened as Obamacare is one of the major reforms in the health sector. The primary focus of this policy was to provide more Americans with access to health insurance, improved quality of health insurance and health care, reduce healthcare expenditure in the country and more importantly regulate the insurance industry. This organization of the organism is accompanied by physical, cognitive, and interactive results that diminish, lessen, and even wipe out the influence of that incident. This array of mobilization-minimization seems to be bigger for undesirable events than for unbiased or positive happenings. Hypothetical explanations of this response form are reviewed in this paper. Further, it will give a verdict on whether negative bias has been helpful or harmful to the process of human evolution. It is established that ...

Many have said that America was built on the backs of immigration and minorities that settled in America. There is a lot of evidence to support this, as the Irish and German immigrants that came in waves during the 1880s were often used for cheap labor. In addition, African-Americans were used as slave labor until the conclusion of the Civil War, playing an important part in the development of the country. In addition, Native Americans were also prominently involved in the process, but certainly not in a positive way; this is because the United States government used resettlement techniques ...

At common law, a felony murder was defined as the unlawful killing of a human being while in the commission of a felony crimes (LaFave). However, the modern concept of felony murder has widely been interpreted to mean an unlawful killing that occurred in the commission of only a certain type of felony crime, or acts that are deemed, by the totality of circumstances, to be inherently dangerous (LaFave). Under the federal criminal code, a person is guilty of felony murder if in “preparation of, or attempt to perpetrate, any” robbery (LII). Robbery, under the federal criminal code, is ...

Williams v Pennsylvania (2016) was brought to the Supreme Court by Williams who was found guilty of murder back in 1984 and sentenced to death because he claimed that the prosecution not only utilized false testimony but withheld evidence that could have led to his exoneration (Supreme Court, 2016). I found this particular case interesting due to its conclusion where the petitioner was ultimately denied his appeal even after his allegations were proven by the PCRA (Supreme Court, 2016) which just goes to show how even if the filer was in the right, the law still refused to rescue ...

Art-related disciplines are critical to educating citizens and students of every age. Nevertheless, the arts have declined significantly in schools and public participation. According to a recent study by Rabkin and Hedberg (2011), fewer eighteen-year-olds in a 2008 survey reported receiving arts instruction in their childhood than a similar age group surveyed in 1982. The research suggested that the provision of arts education dropped from 65% in 1982 to about 50% in 2008 (Rabkin & Hedberg, 2011). Moreover, it included survey data gathered in 2002 and 1992 with each successive period indicating a severe decline in Americans’ access to arts ...

According to Trevino & Nelson (2011, p. 35), fraud does not happen as a coincidence. To be specific, fraud in organizations is usually premeditated and has to happen in the right conditions and members of the organization in authority often set these conditions. As such, identifying the root causes of fraud, which is called fraud deterrence, should be one of the priorities of corporate governance. Since fraud has been a common menace in the history of organizational management, various strategies, government regulations, and acts have been developed to prevent the occurrence of fraud (Giroux, 2013, p. 32). These procedures cover ...

Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The essence of the American Revolution was to create such a government that would allow Americans to gain liberty, equality and freedom. This was to be based on fair representation of the people and the Separation of Powers between three arms of government. For practical purposes though, it is necessary for governance to be exercised by a group of people in the arms of government. This has been abused over the years and the people of America supposed to collectively determine affairs of government in ...

The Whiskey Rebellion began in January of 1791 when Secretary of Treasury Hamilton proposed a tax upon whiskey in an attempt to produce a stable economy nearly twenty years after the Revolutionary War (PBS 2000). While Hamilton’s intention appeared to be for the sake of the country, however, it instead instilled a revolt which would threaten to destroy the nation that they had spent thousands of lives to create. This rebellion was instigated by those who lived in the western part of Pennsylvania who deemed the tax “an abuse of federal authority wrongly targeting a demographic that relied ...

They came from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York or Pennsylvania and had to take into account conservative attitudes of the other Founding Fathers some of whom ...

In a society that believes in the adage, "sex sells", it is no wonder how food companies and advertisers are using sexualized images, particularly of women, to advertise their food and products. Society holds certain stereotypes of the ideal woman as skinny and often advertisers use this perception to advertise their products. Thus, an image advertising food or any other product that portrays a woman as anything but skinny and beautiful would be frowned upon and sales would not be favorable. There are instances when women are portrayed as voracious about food. However, these images and advertisements only use ...

In many cases, the process of design and construction has to take into consideration the aspect of aesthetic values. Historically, most buildings of unique designs represent the culture of the surrounding people or a landmark that is easily recognized. Immediately after World War one, there began the practice of modern architecture. It encompasses moral and aesthetic blueprints. The designers had a primary vision of signifying a new way of development after the war. They ...

Despite the fact that this may seem insignificant, a student’s locker in most cases is the only private space that a student has in a communal atmosphere of the school. In many occasions, the debate about searches and seizure is seen as an American issue. However, this can apply to ...

Africa has been and remains the subject of debate and controversy of large countries. Over the years, the composition of the global players and their methods change, but the price of “African cake” only increases. The last 15 years for many African countries have been marked by the strengthening of trade relations with China, which has today become a major investor. Unlike European countries, which, guided by a complex of guilt for a colonial past of the continent, has long been focused on humanitarian aid and the reduction of African debt, China immediately made an emphasis on trade and ...
