Nowadays, it is extremely complicated to defend the alternative understanding of morality. For some reasons, an approach that the self-interest is opposite to true morality is supported by the majority of people, whereas Kant has underlined that duty, obedience and non-resistance are far from the real living of the life, and therefore – far from moral happiness. Answering to the common belief that morality and self-interest are on the other sides, I consider it important to point out that in fact, they cannot be separated from each other, since even the noblest of acts is not deprived of the at ...

What are some ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture? Different people perceive the gospel in different ways. Some of them think that it is just the book, the main idea of which is to tell us to do the good works and to live the life, which is suitable for us (The Gospel Message, n.d.). Others feel that gospel is something mystical and complicated and the true meaning of its lines could be revealed only to impeccable and ideal human beings. Finally there are those, who understand that the gospel is a little “how to” on ...
Worldviews The ultimate impact of the different worldviews on nursing practice is that they create some form of diversity in the ability for nurses to deliver on their expected health care services. Leininger (2002) argues that health care service delivery has experienced a major challenge due to some form of disconnect between the options presented by nurses when compared to the expectations of views presented by individual patients. In most cases, nurses encounter a situation where the quality of services that they offer does not match the set of views presented by their patients, thus, creating the need for ...
Statistical hypothesis testing is a very important concept in statistics. There are steps to be followed in hypothesis testing, as shown below (Eberly College of Science, n.d.) Formulation of the Null Hypothesis – this step involves stating of the null hypothesis, which states equality between the hypothesized value and a predicted value. In this case, it is the opposite of the alternative hypothesis.
H0: The average salary for all jobs in Minnesota is greater than or equal to $65,000.
H0: x ≥$65,000 Formulation of the Alternative Hypothesis –the alternative hypothesis is the opposite of the null hypothesis, which states that a value is less than, greater than, or not equal to a certain value. This ...
Drug test
Impact of age and drug on the duration In this test, a drug was administered to 28 out of the 48 respondents. The age of the respondents and the drug were the independent variables while the participants’ months to death or end of trial or study time was the dependent variable. The observations were recorded for the 48 participants and the data was regressed using the Gretl software. To determine the impact of age and drug on the duration, we analyze the regression output. The measures of interest are the coefficients of the two variables, Z statistics, and the ...
LAB REPORT-CONTROL SYSTEMS
Abstract Filters are widely applied in many fields and are found in most of the devices. Such areas include low-pass filters installed in the landline telephones, a high-pass filters that are installed in the DSL modems with high-bandwidth and a band-pass filter installed in the cell-phone. The latter enables one to hear only the person to whom you are speaking, but not any other person around you even if they too are on their calls. Finally is the band-reject filter that helps to reject any AC power signal with a frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz when operating the sensitive ...
Introduction
Police power is considered as the government’s duty to develop and implement policies and legislations that are intended to benefit the public. Further, these laws are implemented, generally by law enforcers who makes it their responsibility to ensure that these laws are obeyed. Some of the duties of the police officers include the preservation of peace and order, detection and prevention of crime, and ensuring the fair and efficient administration of the law (U.S., 2003). As a means to give them the authority to uphold and administer these policies, there are laws which are developed to provide the ...
About the paper
The paper is commissioned to delineate the linear and log-linear multiple regression model where the dependent variable, earnings per hour, will be regressed against two independent variables, education and experience. As part of this analysis, we will cite multiple journal articles, books and other related sources to learn more about the regression analysis and how the statisticians perform the data analysis these days. Both the regression models, i.e. linear and log-linear multiple regression will be performed in excel and the output will be attached in the appendix section of the paper. In addition, we will also test the significance ...
Introduction
Certain factors such as the need to conserve environmental purity as well as the increasing pressure on fossil fuels have prompted the increased use of alternative sources of fuel, renewable energy to be precise. Renewable energy has been cited as not only cheap to exploit but also the most environmentally friendly sources of energy due to the reduced instances of environmental pollution associated with such energy (Pasqualetti 204). Solar energy, for instance, has been largely exploited globally due to its free availability, especially along the tropics where it is abundant throughout the year. Despite the increased preference of solar ...
In this assignment, I will perform a two tailed test and a one tailed hypothesis test for the average difference in yields that are provided by using old and new fertilizers. The data on yields on 15 parcels of land is provided in the table below: The first part of the assignment is to perform a two tailed hypothesis test for the two independent samples given. Assume that the population of yields is normally distributed, there are no outliers in the data, the variances are homogeneous. Then, it is possible to use two-sample Student’s t-test for independent samples (" ...
Chapter 3: Methodology
3.0 Introduction The theory of purchasing power parity is essential for the study of international trade since it argues that there exist a relationship between prices of products and exchange rates. This theory provides a framework for assessing long-term changes in the exchange rates. It states that similar goods and services in various countries should have the same cost in the long-run (Frankel 153). Essentially, the PPP theory is based on the assertion that the exchange rates tend to adjust themselves in such a way that there no opportunity costs for buying particular goods or services in a particular ...
Abstract
This research paper will discuss the different ethical issues within group therapy sessions. A therapist should bear particular ethical standards that are required in group therapy sessions. Importantly, counselors should uphold moral codes that guide the group agenda from the formation to the operational stages of the group. Also, this paper will analyze the distinct traits of individual and group counseling. Group counseling involves one counselor attending several clients simultaneously. On the other hand, individual counseling includes a one on one session between a client and therapist. In group counseling, the members may be shy to share their issues ...

a. agree b. disagree
According to Shafer-Landau, what is the hedonist’s best response to the Argument from Evil Pleasures?
a. reject premise 1 b. reject premise 2 Suppose that all of Tom’s coworkers, while perfectly pleasant to his face, secretly tease him behind his back. You are confident that, in the few months that Tom has left before he moves on to another job, he will not find out—unless you tell him. And if you tell him, he will be quite upset. Supposing that your only concern is Tom’s welfare, what would the hedonist advise you to do? a. tell Tom about the teasing b. say nothing

Part 3: Designing, Implementing & Maintaining the Solution
Conceptual Design: When implementing the distributed database, kernel loaded software will be installed on every client machine on the network. Every time an individual client machine is powered on, the distributed database will be powered on and begin filtering incoming traffic into every client machine (Özsu & Valduriez, 2011). This is a very important part of the process as it gives the advantages over the traditional firewalls. Traditional firewalls are implemented on the boundary of an internal network and an external network such as the internet. The firewalls treat the external network as risky while considering the internal network ...

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between social networking and face-to-face communication with respect to their influence on the social interaction skills. The first aim of the research has to determine whether there is a causal relationship between use of social networking tools and face-to-face communication behaviors. The research aims to investigate the hypothesis. There will be a statistically significant difference in change/gain scores for communication behaviors between the experimental group and the control group; Face-to-face communication is associated with the students’ social media networking habits (i.e. time spent on social media networking). There will ...

The website explains in detail how the drug development takes place and how investments made in pharmaceutical companies are affected by this process. The website begins by asserting that there is higher probability of getting 12 male children in a row than a drug seeing the shelf of a pharmacy (Williams par. 1). With that noted, it is therefore imperative for an investor in the health sector to understand the dynamic of drug-manufacturing. The initial stage is the drug discovery which involves identify a molecule e.g. a protein or gene that participates in a disease (Williams par. 2). If ...
1.0 Project introduction and scenario 1.1 Introduction In the recent times, ethical issues have dominated the debates and discussions in the considerable number of disciplines such as technology, business and engineering. On a wider note, the engineering field has received important recognition among other disciplines based on the fact that most actions carried by the practitioners are often challenging and therefore need bold decision-making. The moral reasoning is among the significant challenges in engineering as it involves the decisions to decide where to draw the line between permissible and impermissible actions. The case in this project includes the provision ...

Main post starting a thread: Karen E. Fields and Barbara J. Fields, "Chapter One" Racecraft (New York: Verso, 2012.) pp. 1-24. In chapter one of their book, Fields and Fields warn against an early celebration of the post-racial age, as people from minority groups continue to suffer from racial injustice. The authors talk about the racist concepts that continue to affect the way discussions about race are conducted in present-day America. The authors state that racist concepts are extremely harmful because they not only categorize people in obsolete racial groups that do not reflect their genealogical reality, but they ...
Abstract
Although obliged to cover issues in their entirety, with no distortions made in the process, American media tend to misrepresent the reality, as was the case with the depiction of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime implications for the social welfare possibly for political reasons. The noble cause of saving the international image of the USA formerly allied with the late leader in the wake of the Gaddafi demonization could have been the driving force of misrepresentation of the myth related in part to ethical minorities. The knowledge of non-consequentialism and its principles, whether unconsciously or otherwise, allows readers to perceive ...
Introduction
In this report, we will critically analyze and summarize an interesting research work (Chachi, Taheri, and Viertl) related to testing statistical hypothesis when relevant data and confidence intervals are not precise. In classical Statistical inferences, we state a Null hypothesis about a precise parameter. Then, we test the validity of the Null hypothesis using classical Statistical tests using the concept of confidence intervals at some predefined level x (say 5%) based on uncertainty we can tolerate. If the value of the testing parameter lies in confidence interval 1-x, then the Null hypothesis cannot be rejected. If testing results shows ...
What does the margin of error tell us about a sample taken from a large population? How does the confidence level for a sample outcome differ from the sample’s margin of error? The margin of error is a numerical value that expresses or estimates the likelihood of error in an experiment’s results. Thus, it can somehow account for the statistical significance of a result. If it is smaller, then the likelihood of error is also small, making the results more credible. Smaller sample sizes from a large population generally have a larger margin of error while larger ...

Abstract
The following examines Mexican American and African-American cultures and the ways that these two cultures interact the dominant white culture in the United States. While on the surface these two cultures might seem to have much in common (given that they are frequently discriminated against minorities in the United States), in point of fact they are very different in the ways that they assimilate into American culture. Anthropologists and sociologists have traditionally used words like “integration” and “acculturation” to describe the process in which immigrant cultures ultimately blend in to (and accommodate themselves to) the dominant culture of the ...
What is the relationship between the predicted outcome and the claim being tested in scientific experiment? An experimented outcome can be compromised in two ways. What are they and how do they differ? The predicted outcome is a common aspect of science with a particular interest in scientific research studies. In science, questions about truth and the claims of certain phenomena are answered through empirical evidence. Nevertheless, there are instances where scientists make educated guesses on a particular test subject. A predicted outcome can be proved right based on measurable evidence in a hypothesis experiment. On the other hand, ...
Education as a Practice of Liberation
Introduction Paulo Freire is the ideologue who formulated and offered his vision and approach to modern education. In the essay, "The Concept of Banking Education”, Freire states that in the modern education system mechanical approach dominates, so he offers his own problem-posing educational method, which allows studying freely. Those, who truly seek after the liberation, should completely reject the "banking" concept of education, and instead embrace the concept of humans as thinking beings and consciousness, which is oriented to the world. This definition of Freire’s approach is "explicit". Such people should stop to consider the purpose of education " ...
The Real Reason People Won’t Change
Change is inevitable. However, not everyone in an organization is ever ready for a change. People tend to drag their feet, yet they want to change. They won’t change even when they want to change. The greatest assumptions that most managers have is that employees in an organization always reject change, the reality, however, is that employees have a natural immune to change. A good manager should be able to note the competing commitments their employees have and assist wherever they can to help them overcome such limitations. As a leader in the near future, I find this ...
Abstract
The current government has consistently been trying to reduce the costs of healthcare and at the same time improve its quality. This paper focuses on the current state of healthcare through an extensive research on the population. The research uses a cross sectional design to collect data and come up with relevant conclusions. The research project aimed at using a homogenous population to come up with accurate results. Such a population involves participants who have the same knowledge about the subject. Such participants are easily obtained through a referral process where one participant refers another. A total of 50 ...
Motor-dexterity was tested, in order to determine the overall impact of hand dominance on individual behavior. This was tested by having individuals perform activities with each hand, and watch for signs of frustration as they use their non-dominant hand. The hypotheses were that: People would perform the motor-dexterity task faster with their dominant hand than their non-dominant hand, and that they would show more frustration while using their non-dominant hand. The following findings indicate the significance, or effect of hand dominance on level of frustration. Data was collected from ten participants, with the researcher measuring how fast they could ...
Correlation analysis is used to show the strength of the relationship between two variables. Coefficient of correlation shows the strength and the direction of the relationship between variables. The coefficient of correlation is one of the most widely utilized and abused statistical measure. The abuse comes in the sense that people sometimes overlook the fact that it measures nothing but the strength of a linear link and does not mean a cause-effect relationship. The correlation is computed by use of a mathematical formula where we obtain values ranging from -1< r < +1. Whereby r is the correlation coefficient. ...

The mean of the bottling Company Case Study is 475.62(sum of all ounces of the bottles that were randomly selected on all three shifts)/30(amount of bottles that were randomly selected on all three shifts)=15.85(mean/average of ounces). When evaluating the median of an even data set the two middle numbers are added together and the mean of those two numbers is taken. In this case, the median of the Bottling company case study is 15.98 + 16.00 = 31.98/2 = 15.49. the median is 15.49.

Introduction
Receiving education is a costly choice. There are costs to education in terms of direct monetary payments and an opportunity costs. The choice to go to school means forgoing waged employment. Therefore, there is an opportunity costs of the wages that would have been earned. Therefore, there is a need to compare the returns versus the cost of education to make optimal decisions. Estimating the returns to education for any population segment is useful in making decisions on the optimal schooling level at both a personal as well as societal level. From a policy standpoint, estimating returns to education ...
Almost US, but still Latin America. This is the brief definition one can give to Puerto Rico. US is actively engaged in cooperation with the archipelago, but the chances that this area ever really become an integral part of the United States are still unclear. More so, it is a unique habitat with its own unique development system, including the judiciary. Puerto Rico is a dependent territory of the United States and has the status of "unincorporated organized territory”, which means that the area is under the control of the United States (and is not an integral part thereof), ...
Anthropological and archaeological research has taken full advantage of technological progress in the past decades, and human remains have been able to answer many more questions about the origin of our species than science has ever been able to provide before. While exploring human past is an important scientific area, biological anthropology and archeology have not been devoid of ethical controversies. The motivations, methods and rights of the scientists over the remains have been often questioned by critics and opponents who have different views regarding the ways in which these artifacts should be treated. Spiritual beliefs and cultural practices ...
The 1979 Sale of Goods Act is the most comprehensive pieces of legislation on commercial law in the UK that governs, inter alia, contracts for the sale of goods, implied terms in sale of goods, rules governing the transfer and possession of property (goods) and also provides some of the remedies that purchasers (buyers) may have against sellers for defects in goods or otherwise (Dobson, Dobson & Stokes 2012, p. 10). This Act thus ensures the effectiveness of the legal relationship between businesses and customers, for it contains rules and regulations that seek to protect the rights of buyers and ...

Regression analysis is the statistical technique commonly used in econometric modeling and carrying out economic forecasts. This study sought to assess the precision multiple linear regression in evaluating the evolution in real GDP per capita in the USA between 1998 and 2011 using expenditure approach. Three macroeconomic variables were used; Gross domestic product, net investment and final consumption. Net investment and final consumption are model regressors predicting GDP. The researcher used MS Excel to carry out all the statistical analysis on the data. The analysis result shows weak linear development GDP increment. Small fluctuations were observed around the fitted ...
Each patient is obliged to know his rights for sharing information and receiving proper treatment. The governments follow the rules, which are for confidentiality, informed consent and privacy, in order to share the responsibility for people`s data. These policies are discussed in this paper, and the reasons of their compliance are presented there.
Definition of Informed Consent
Informed consent is one of the most important parts of patient-doctor relationships, when the process of treatment occurs. Each procedure is sure to happen, but the medicine used can bring risks or benefits to the patient`s health. Every person is able to receive the ...

Persuasive speeches are meant to convince a particular audience to follow a certain advice. Most successful politicians and corporate entities rely on persuasive speech to lure their target audience to support them and increase awareness on new products in the market respectively (Petty & John 2). The outline of a persuasive speech follows three steps namely introduction, body and conclusion.
Part 1: Introduction
This part is very crucial in persuasive speech because it is the starting point for the speaker. The audience would listen to the beginning of a speech before they determine if they can continue listening. In this regard, a proper ...

Introduction
The GSS 2014 has been established with the view to generate ongoing research data on demographics of the country for social welfare and decision making. The General Social Surveys (GSS) have been conducted by the National Opinion Research Centre (NORC) annually since 1972, except for the years 1979, 1981, and 1992, and biennially beginning in 1994. The GSS surveys are supposed to be part of a social indicator research, applying questionnaire items and wording in order to facilitate time-trend studies. There are a total of 3,842 cases in the data set. ...
1. Why Hedda Gabler and not Hedda Tesman? Hedda belongs to the bourgeois class of her society. Using Hedda Gabler instead of Hedda Tesman is meant to show the audience how Ibsen's main protagonist prefers to identify herself. Hedda is the daughter of a general who ends up marrying into a lower class thereby lowering her social status. However, she still wants to identify herself as an aristocrat. People in Hedda's society enjoy privileges according to their social status. Belonging to the bourgeois class means that she does not enjoy as many benefits as she would enjoy under the ...
Throughout history, Americans have been documented to have abused various drugs starting from precolonial times America as it is well documented that Christopher Columbus, the explorer that discovered America, found other mind-affecting drugs which he brought back to Europe on his first voyage to modern-day (Elaine, n.d.). However, until the late 1880s, prohibitionists and abstentionists had an easy time in addressing the drug abuse among the population, since all the supply point was known and easily identified. Nonetheless, the country failed to have a comprehensive legal framework that was engineered to address the drug abuse problem due to rapid ...

Abstract Human attitudes towards people from different ethnic groups is one of the subjects that has been of interest to sociologists. Sociologists have studied the subject for a long time on various aspects. This study seeks to explore the impact of a person’s ethnicity on their attitudes towards persons of various ethnic groups. Specifically the study answered two key questions. Firstly, whether people have implicit negative attitudes towards certain races. Secondly, whether there is any interaction between people ethnicity and their attitudes towards specific races. The study used a single sample t-test and one-way ANOVA to answer the ...
Is Happiness Really Happiness?
In his article, Life Satisfaction, Ethical Reflection, and The Science of Happiness, author Dan Haybron argues that being satisfied with one's life is necessary or rather important, but that it does not matter as much as one might think. Specifically, the argument is centered on the idea that happiness and its definition is varied depending on the individual. Moreover, another argument made is that what humans consider as happiness is in fact, satisfaction with life. This paper discusses Haybron's claims and whether there is merit in his argument.
Haybron continues by stating that most philosophical research and arguments have ...
Abstract
In this case, we illustrate the application of multiple regression in economics. We gather data on the unemployment rate (dependent variable) and three independent variables; GDP per capita, maximum weekly unemployment benefit and population estimate for 2015. The data is collected from 39 different states. Regression analysis results show that there is a positive association between the unemployment rate and GDP per capita and population estimate. The relationship between unemployment rate and maximum weekly benefits is inverse. The evaluation of the reliability of the first-order model shows that it has a small coefficient of determination. The first-order model is ...
Modernism created Post-Modernism and the emergence of these two influential art movements created a lasting impact on the artists’ perception of iconography. The history concerning modernism dates back in the Renaissance period since the majority of the artists at that time explored various kinds of iconography such as painting mythological creatures, portraiture, and humanism which contrasts the iconography of the Medieval period. But the lasting effects of the modern period were felt in the early 19th century up to the early phase of the 20th century. The concept of Modernism meant an improvisation of the existing artistic trend by ...
The debate as to whether or not to legalize marijuana in America has been heavily documented. Different states have different laws pertaining the vice. The fact that it is used both for medicinal and recreational purposes makes it difficult for the government to ban it. In the past few years, the marijuana debate has constantly featured in legal and legislative controversies. Different states seem to adopt different approaches over the issue. At the moment, marijuana is legalized in more than 20 states, including the District of Columbia. It would be prudent to note that such legalization is restricted to ...
Write a brief description of the major findings from the paper
The current study examined how much people think and what emotional experience they have about their behavior when they perform habitual actions or actions, behaviors which are not habitual for them. As it was supposed, results of the study demonstrated that when a person performs habitual actions one`s thoughts are less likely to correspond to one`s actions. On the contrary, when a person performs some novelty actions in less stable or variable context this person is more likely to think about one`s actions or, in other words, thoughts and actions correspond to each other.

Based on the given information and data, the following statement is extracted to reflect incremental cash flows for each year accompanied by a table showing calculation of depreciation expense using straight line method:
Question No. 2 - Payback Period (PBP) and Net Present Value (NPV)
Payback Period (PBP) The period within which the initial investment in project could be recovered represents the Payback Period (PBP). The criteria of making investment decision in case of this capital budgeting technique is that any project that has a Payback Period (PBP) beyond the one “required” by the business is ignored. In the same manner, only those projects are accepted that help an organization recover ...
Assume, my research question is related to the average income level of people living in different areas. Let’s say, I want to compare the average annual income of those, who live in an urban area and in a rural area. In this case, the pair of hypotheses is the following. Null hypothesis: There is no significant difference in the population average income between urban and rural residents. Alternative hypothesis: there is a significant difference in the population average income between urban and rural residents ("Hypothesis Tests", 2016). My next task is to gather the sample information about the ...

The United Nations (UN) is an organization that prides itself on the discussion of important topics related to world peace, security, development and others but accomplishes, essentially, nothing.
