There are times when a nursing problem arises as a result of a number of findings, and these findings are pulled together into a summary in order to see the big picture created out of these findings. This act of pulling together is what Brown & Ochs (2018) calls a systematic research review (SRR) or systematic review, which helps researchers identify “what is known with certainty, what is tentatively known, and what the gaps in knowledge are regarding an issue” (p.175). Analysis of the poem “The Blue Bowl” by Jane Kenyon
Jane Kenyon’s poem “The Blue Bowl” is a short but strong work, representing the feelings about loss and death. Initially, it seems to be quite a simple and explicit poem, as the author tells us about the death of a cat in the first line:
with his bowl.” (Kenyon) However, with further reading and restating the poem, we realize that it has a much deeper sense. It is filled with symbols, which show us the inevitability of death. The title of the poem is a clear evidence that the blue bowl is a symbol, which must be explained ...
Sherman Alexie’s poem “Evolution” is a scathing indictment of the white European settlement of the Americas, and the subsequent subjugation of the Native American people. By spinning the tale of white conquest over the Natives, and the economic dependence the Natives were forced to have on whites after that, into a fable involving famed Western icon Buffalo Bill, Alexie satirically points out the hypocrisy by which the white Western narrative makes a fable out of the removal of Native peoples and culture from their own hands. The poem begins with the establishment of Buffalo Bill, who “opens a ...
Each and every part of the fairy tale has its own significant meaning, which makes the story even more unique in the reader’s imagination and brings deeper symbolism into the perception of the tale. One of such elements is the forest, where the little Snow White has found dwarfs. This element has various explanations, depending on the way the reader perceives and understands the tale. The forest may symbolize the dark period of life – the period of decline, depression, loss of hope, etc. It may also symbolize a time of issues, problems represented through the trees and grass, ...

Herodotus Assessment
In the ancient time period, the recording of history was connected to the activity of narrators and thinkers that did not aim to write historical, but rather literary. At the same time, the history genre belonged to literary prose. The initial works incorporated the features of two different sides of human activity: science and art. Due to this fact, the Greek narrative authors traditionally attracted the attention of readers. A special place in the development of history belongs to Herodotus’s work, which is considered as the first example of both historical and literary prose. In this essay, the ...

The USA has always prided itself on being a byword for the land of opportunities any person can enjoy. Such optimism may end where the issue of the minimum wage starts, as employees find themselves constrained by a salary ceiling. Forced into low-income groups of earners, there is nothing they can do except resort to aid or social programs to meet their individual or family needs. The situation round the use of aid has come to reach an alarming point judging by the scope of the issue. Employees representing fast food, home care, childcare, and part-time college faculty sectors ...

Discuss ‘Another Country’ as a Realistic Novel
Another Country is definitely the innovative and fresh novel of the time as it not only represents the tabooed topics and reveals carefully hidden truths but also gives the new lease of life to the genre of a realistic novel. This particular statement seems to be evident because James Baldwin made his book embody realistic novel’s main features, which are the reality, fidelity, docudrama, human psychology, complex characters, plot structure and narrative style (Shivaji University, 3).
Reality and Fidelity
Even the name of a realistic novel speaks on its behalf; therefore, it is obvious that the proper reflection of the reality ...
Artists in various fields and media have often drawn inspiration from their fellow artists who work in different formats. For example, writers have often been influenced by music; and movies have often been based on novels or plays. In the 20th century, however, there was a very close alliance between writers and visual artists, both in American and in Europe. Modernist painters often developed friendships with modernist writers and poets, and modernist poets often used modern paintings as an inspiration for their poems. This trend continued in the second half of the twentieth century, as the post-modern or Beat ...

Many a time have people heard about politicians who do plenty of talking. He has showed his aptitude in areas, such as education, property ownership, taxation, healthcare, and the protection of different social categories. Part 1: Prosecutor’s Duty to Report
Although the American criminal law is based on the adversarial system where the prosecutor, representing the state, and the defense, representing the accused, engage in openly confrontational activities in order to persuade a neutral decision-maker of the truth of their story; the Supreme Court has held that under some circumstance, and despite the adversarial nature of the relationship, the prosecution must assist the defense in the preparation of their case. The underlying reason for this counter-intuitive element of the adversarial system, is the traditional belief that the substantial power of the state, as expressed through its law enforcement and ...
Considering the overall amount of literature devoted to the subjects related to social dystopia, it appears more than obvious that “WE” by Yevgeny Zamyatin represents one of the most influential and even fundamental works in the genre. In addition to brilliantly expressing the author’s talent, it has also become the strongest foundation for the anti-utopists to express their own thoughts in literature form. Nevertheless, it is still worth accepting that even the works of his future followers have not been that symbolic and scientifically exact compared to his own book. For everyone who has read that book, it ...

Literary works have always been the mirrors of the society, and many of them have come to critique the subjugation of women. One can take into consideration the literary works, The Awakening, by Kate Chopin and Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House that delve into the influences of the society and the family in oppressing women. The respective narratives would lead to a better comprehension of the intricate influences and experiences that finally pave the way of the emancipation of the characters of Edna and Nora from the shackles of patriarchy and subjugation. Governor Wilson ran full-page ads in the major California newspapers, the New York Times, and the Washington Post, to launch his anti-immigrant based re-election campaign. The ads were in the form of a letter to President Clinton, demanding that he halt illegal immigration to the State of California as well as reimburse the state for the cost of federally mandated health, education, welfare services, and the incarceration of undocumented immigrants. Remarkably, Governor Wilson was able to narrow the complex political and economic conditions besieging California. It proved to be a politically astute move. In doing so, Wilson obfuscated the ...
