Abstract Music has evolved with the times, and has a new meaning and role in the development of society. Before the 16th century, music was confined to religious sermons and other church practices. However, in the 16th century, there was a distinct change in the role of music. The emergence of Protestants saw music change from the practices of the Roman Catholics.
