Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) affects the immune system thereby weakening the body’s defense system by destroying white blood cells referred to as CD4+ cells(CDC, 2016). These cells are responsible for protecting the body against diseases. In the event that a significant number of these cells are destroyed, the susceptibility of the body to attacks by illnesses increases resulting to a more weakened immune system.
