The “act of state doctrine” provides that a court in the United States, cannot pass judgement on the actions of a foreign government taken within their own country or territory that it has jurisdiction over (Cheeseman, 2012). In essence, the doctrine bars U.S. courts from interfering in the domestic policy actions of another government in their own country. b.)
