When the Bolshevik lead by Vladimir Lenin took control of the Soviet Union after the Soviet Revolution overthrew the Romanovs. Lenin had felt that the capitalism of the Soviet Union was what enabled the people to have a successful Socialist revolt against the government. The Bolsheviks worked to organize the farmers and those who worked in factories against the government. This was because they felt that threatening the production of the country would work for the Romanovs to meet their demands. One such demand was that they wanted the Soviet Union to end their war with Austria and Germany. ...

Going to a 9/80 Work Schedule
The interests of the employer and the hired worker contradicted in the days when workers had to be in place for 70-90 hours a week. In only 30 years, unions have achieved the established 40-hour limit on the working week. The growth of megacities, congestion of road transportation, a growing number of working mothers and the chronic fatigue syndrome has resulted in declined productivity of tired employees. Output was the development of alternative working time. Today, about 70% of the companies in the USA operate on a flexible schedule (Kokemuller, 2016). In ...

The piece of music we were supposed to listen to is “Youth without youth” by a Great Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov written for a beautiful and insightful movie with the same name (Dhaine and Soriano 109-121). As far as the style of the music is concerned, I may suppose that this one resembles classical symphonic music with some inclusions of Latin American instrumentals. The music itself is the sheer expression of romantic. However, it is not about that frivolous and easy-going love. It implies tough and troubled matter of romantic relationships between a man and a woman. That is ...
Thelonious Monk is known as one of the most gifted jazz musicians. He was the pioneer of bebop and his influence as a pianist and composer had significant effects on different kinds of music (Monkinstitute). Music of Thelonious Monk is based on Ingrid Monson’s and Paul Berliner’s work (Solis 3). Nevertheless, Monk is famous for his improvisations, which are so outstanding that a jazz critic Whitney Balliett once pointed out “His improvisations were molten Monk compositions, and his compositions were frozen Monk improvisations.” (Deveaux 169) Thelonious was born in North Carolina on October 10, 1917, but his ...
1 - Steve Eckels This music makes me feel relaxed and calm, as the melody is the embodiment of patience. It is very monotonous and tranquil, but there is not a feeling of being bored while listening to the music. “Hotline Bling,” a song co-written and performed by Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, known simply as Drake, rose to popularity in late 2015. While it was well known for its corresponding music video, it has also been critically praised for its emotional depth. Essentially, “Hotline Bling” is an emotional appeal from the narrator, Drake, to a former lover, who remains unnamed in the song. Throughout several stanzas that center around the phrase “ever since I left the city,” Drake uses the rhetorical devices of pathos and ethos in an attempt to compare and contrast his past and current relationship ...
Rock and roll is one of the most important genres in the history of modern music. The signature guitar styles, drum rhythms, and powerful electric sound allowed this genre to singlehandedly change the way that music was created, presented, and performed. The Musical Arts Concert Series, “Fantastic Beasts,” was very good. I enjoyed it a lot and I could tell others in the audience also thought it was good. It began with, “The Lamb.” I thought the text translations were nice; when the choir sang parts that were in ...

An Examination of Style and Performance
Introduction Joseph Haydn may be the most underrated of all the great composers, especially when it comes to his piano music. Music students in every field, remain taught that Haydn is the “father of the Symphony.” It is this fact that keeps the student from seeking out, discovering, and delighting in his brilliant, often difficult, but worth the challenge of playing Haydn’s late keyboard compositions. Haydn’s major keyboard works are sonatas, generally representing his growth from his early years until 1794 with completion of his final three sonatas. According to Gordon (1996), Haydn often set the ...
Almost all classic songs are about love. Since ancient times, artists have endeavored to write songs of love to stir the heart. Their works have ranged from the saccharine and sappy to the truly moving. In spite of the artists’ varied levels of accomplishment and artistic merits, each of these songs relies on certain tropes and exhibits certain qualities that are endemic to the “love song” genre. In all quintessential love songs, three tenets (common qualities) have stood out; simple lyrics delivered with sincerity, use of a saxophone and they are sung in moderately slow tempos.

In this essay, I will talk about my perspective on the relationship between human and nature in the Symphony No. 6 by Beethoven. In order to support my arguments properly, I will start by listening to the Six Symphony in the interpretation of London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Herbert von Karajan. Furthermore, I will divide the work in separate parts, in the same way in which the composer had created it and I will approach each movement separately, by connecting music and the main themes with the relationship between nature and human, by searching elements that are correlated or ...
Redaction criticism is the theory held by many scholars that those that translated the early biblical writings altered them so that the bible could appear to be more legitimate. The criticisms reduce the quality of the bible writings by casting doubt on the inspiration value of some of its messages rendering the bible as untrustworthy as a historical document. The basis of redaction is that the second writer who is copying the work reduces, omits and alters the original work. Such is the case of Smooth Criminal by American rock band Alien Ant Farm.
