Suspsension bridges have been around for quite a long time but the first one ever built was the Britannia Bridge which has been renamed as the Menai Suspension Bridge and is a suspension bridge which begins on the island of Anglesey and connects the mainland of Wales. The bridge was designed by the famed engineer Thomas Telford and was finished in 1826.
