The origins of the definition of cognitive artifacts, comes from the roles they play in human learning, decision making and understanding: artifacts augment, influence or communicate these aspects. The term “artifact” refers to an object that is manmade. As such, cognitive artifacts are physical artificial devices designed by man to serve a specific purpose, by facilitating thinking, evaluation, as well as stimulate consequent actions or responses.
