Vascular dementia is the decline in the level of thinking skills as a result of conditions that reduce or block the flow of blood to the brain, thus depriving it of the vital oxygen supply and nutrients. It is mostly associated with a stroke or several strokes. Although the strokes can be small in extent, their damage can accumulate over time.
