Worries about a decline in the birth rate are nothing new, at least in many developed nations. As early as 1909, Hoffman made it perfectly clear that a love for babies was not the reason that some in the U.S. fretted over the declining number of births. Rather, it was concern over the decreasing rate of births among “native white married women” while the “rate of reproduction [was] materially higher among the foreign element” (p. 676). Similar concerns are in evidence today in places such as Israel, where the comparatively high rate of births among the Arab population has ...

A family is a residential unit in the society. Gender roles are a significant contributor to family dynamics. They establish stability in the family. Adaptability has become one of the most crucial skills that today’s employers look for in their potential employees. It is so because of the highly unpredictable nature of the work environment as people seek to innovate, improve, grow and greater efficacy. (University of Leeds, 2014). Adaptability has the benefits of harnessing hidden talents in the workforce and in so doing, contribute to a greater skilled workforce. On the other hand, inadaptability provides the disadvantage of an inflexibility of the workforce. Instead of uncovering new skills within the existing workforce, it creates a gap and makes them lose out ...

Introduction: Overview of Management
Human beings will remain to be the most complicated assets to manage in an organization unless probably the day computers will think, feel, and learn to do things without human intervention. Until then, every manager needs a management concept that will assist him or her to manage these complex resources. Management refers to the process of locating, organizing, planning, leading, and exercising control over the workforce among other resources. Every manager needs to have the necessary skills in making decisions and resolving issues for him/her to be effective, efficient, and beneficial.
In essence, managers’ primary role is ...
HRM challenges
The United States of America is proud to have the greatest work force in the world. Not from the quantitative point of view – counties like China or India have much greater labor pools, but definitely in terms of quality. With over 56 million of college graduates available on the market, America has a large pool of professionals, and problems in human resource management for private and official entities may seem artificial. Nevertheless, there are plenty of issues that HR specialists of this country need to address, and the number of problems they face does not tend to decrease.

Leadership provides direction and motivation to the workforce and keeps them focused on their goals. Steve Jobs has been the CEO of Apple and is regarded as an excellent leader even after his death. It was under his leadership that Apple gained success and even the employees became strategic thinkers and decision makers. A leader is powerful and possesses a charismatic persona. There are times when a nursing problem arises as a result of a number of findings, and these findings are pulled together into a summary in order to see the big picture created out of these findings. This act of pulling together is what Brown & Ochs (2018) calls a systematic research review (SRR) or systematic review, which helps researchers identify “what is known with certainty, what is tentatively known, and what the gaps in knowledge are regarding an issue” (p.175). It serves as a link between the individual studies performed and the decision making done in order to create ...
HR and Information Technology (HRIS)
Introduction Business undertaking involves various pitfalls such as poor organizational traditions, the big squeeze, identity crisis, and organizational failure. These pitfalls continue to be inevitable in an organization until effective HR is adopted. Human resources must be managed well for the success of an organization. Every individual working in an organization plays a contributory role in its management. Tarawneh (2012) argued that since human resources are needed in all aspects of business operations ranging from production to marketing, ...

HRD program that is most often not done well
An important component in designing a HRD program that is most often not done well is education and training. Education and training define an employee; without it the worker is ineffective and cannot meet expectations. Authors and experts blame the educational system and the training infrastructure for the inadequate preparation of a particular workforce. You cannot teach an employee statistical process control if that employee had not mastered seventh-grade math or fifth-grade reading. Studies have shown that many job applicants are not prepared for the present job market, let alone the advanced economy they will face in the near ...

However, factors related to individual determinants of utilization of health care services as well as the enabling factors must be taken into consideration in the discussion of health care utilization. “If it has ‘science’ in its name, it ain’t (Minnick).” Those words were said to this writer by the smartest person he ever knew personally, a man with PhDs in Mathematics and Physics, a true scientist. He went on to explain that science, if it is science, can be reduced to mathematics and then can predict. “Science can generate electricity or flatten cities,” he said. The problem, of course, is that whenever one deals with the “soft sciences,” political science or economics (the dismal science) or sociology or history or any of the disciplines that are housed in ...

While job description refers to the specific roles or duties of a given position in an organization, job specification indicates the required attributes for someone to be considered competent for a given task (Verboncu & Zeininger, 2015). Some of the important attributes evaluated during job description include necessary goals and skills for a given position. In job specification, the human resource (HR) managers take account of individual attributes, experience, skills and training that are ...

Registered nurses have a high demand in the market place, wherein the current RN workforce of over 2.7 ˘million is expect to grow above 3.5 million by 2022 (AACN 2014). People are the most important asset in an organization. It is for this reason that the human resources department in a corporate entity is assigned with a number of responsibilities pertaining to the workforce of the business. Among many of these responsibilities, the determination of the compensation for the employees is the most important duty of this department. In its simplest interpretation, compensation can defined as the sum of financial and non financial pay given to a worker from his company in exchange for the services provided by the former. Compensation, thus, involves a monetary value of the pay ...
The fundamental reason people join trade unions is to get the opportunity to fight against the greed of Capitalism. Left to entrepreneurs and members of the elite, everything will be turned into a tool for their personal enrichment to the detriment of the greater good in society – like welfare, workers and other stakeholders. In line with this, trade unions play a significant role in limiting Capitalist greed. In spite of this, trade unionism is declining and fewer young people are willing to join these unions in all major countries around the globe. The purpose of this letter is to ...

Organizational Design
Contrary to typical assumptions that will associate the concept of organization design with that of structuring organizational charts and the likes, organization design has a more comprehensive and practical designation than it really sounds. There is a holistic way of looking at organization design –it is the modeling and alignment of all the involved elements of an organization with the intention of achieving an agreed upon objective. Organizational design is a forthright organizational process with a pertinence so outspoken, that it should literally be addressed in every status meeting of every department on that organization. Organization design is carried ...

ABSTRACT As telemedicine is used throughout the rural parts of Africa, there are many professionals and patients who find the entire process very beneficial because there is an allowance for a decrease in transmission of highly contagious diseases such as MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). If there are clinics that are found in locations surrounding rural Africa, there are strong concerns that patients will be able to transmit their diseases to other people who are otherwise healthy. With the use of telemedicine, the patients and the health care providers can see each other through a confined space and there is ...

The globalization of business, as well as the rise in the movement of the workforce across the geographical borders and nations, have significantly increased the diversity in the workplaces. The contemporary organizations come in all shapes and sizes. Most of them now have employees from diverse cultural backgrounds. With the increased workforce diversity, especially within the multicultural organizations, the concept of organizational justice has increasingly become vital. Notably, many researchers continue having an interest in this concept (Colquitt et al., 2001). Identifying the Key elements of the Resistance to Change
The reasons for people resisting change differ depending on interests and anticipation for changes. Parochial self-interest indicates that workers are more concerned with the change implications for themselves (Housel & Marian, 2011). Personal interests are considered rather than the impact of changes to business success. Regarding the case study, the union resists the changes by Nestle. The proposal by Nestle for 15 percent workforce cut was essential for organizations to realize the changes. The response by CGT shows complete resistance to change as the union safeguard the interest of employees. The firm positions by both management and union influences initiated ...
Women have experienced harm since the beginning of humankind. The French feminist movement began in the late 1790s and one of its key arguments has always been that language has been used to prejudice women as long as orality has been used. The language of the late 20th and early 21st century has become the language of the press, and more relevantly the language of online sources. These online sources are able to reach to the far edges of the world and few cultures are safe from these opinions, words and languages the promote prejudice against women. This paper ...

We have recently come to a time where college education has grown to mean little apart from the increasing concern over high college tuition. Maybe it is only fair given the unreasonably huge cost which the colleges are charging, one which is rising even faster than inflation itself. But it is worth exploring the true benefit which is beyond the monetary cost itself here. College is far beyond its worth in money and people from previous generations are quite likely to be in agreement of what college meant and the benefits that it brought into their lives. With all ...

Gender equality is an issue that has persisted throughout history and pervaded the same on one level or another. Throughout much of history, men have used religion, power and influence to subjugate and limit women. One might think that such a pattern would be tapering off and going away in the 21st century and within modern times. While many countries, including the one mentioned throughout this report, have been able to advance and progress in major ways, there are still a ton of opportunities to learn and grow.

Workforce Reductions
Workforce Reductions Workforce reduction is considered a downsizing strategy that directly affects the workers and employees of the company. The strategy is used as a result of slump in demand or to improve the operational efficiency of the company. The key reasons of workforce reduction include heightened competition, changing markets and gaps in the employment laws. In addition, improvement in the cash-flow, stakeholder expectations and overcapacity/poor management lead to massive layoffs to gain short-term profits and value (Rogovsky, 2005). The workforce reduction as a strategy of the company has both positive and negative impacts.

As the nursing executive of a general hospital with more than 1,000 beds, I need to address the nursing shortage in the emergency department. Currently, there are 19 full-time nurses working in the emergency department. That number proved to be sufficient to effectively address approximately 80% of all admissions, but it will be necessary to increase the number of full-time nurses and staff retention rates need to increase in order to further improve care delivery in the department and reduce job burnout rates. According to Buchan and Aiken (2008), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) identified ...

Workers have different feelings towards everything within the workplace. The attitudes of the teenage and student employees, especially in the hospitality sector, are of great ethical importance since they determine how these workers treat the clients, how seriously they take their work, and whether they will steal from the business or not (Rogojan 6). This paper explores a case study and will attempt to establish how typical are the attitudes that Sheehy reports. The paper will also show how Sheehy’s description of a new work ethics matches with my own experiences.

Policy Analysis: Issue of Health Disparities in Alaska Natives and American Indians
Health disparities among Alaska Natives and American Indians (AI/ANs) have been reported since the initial contact that occurred nearly 500 years in the past. Moreover, the disparities are common in every age and across a wide spectrum of various disease categories (Sarche & Spicer, 2008). Accordingly, AI/ANs endure persistent health disparities that include health status decline, barriers to essential health services, and high uninsured rates. The group also experiences a lower status of health in comparison to other Americans (Frizzell, 2016). Moreover, companies should introduce mentoring and coaching programs to regulate gender equality issues and ...
