The Cold War
The cold war was a period when there was a protracted struggle between the United States and the Soviet immediately after the Second World War. The war was not physical per se, but an ideological, economic and geopolitical struggle which witnessed each country being supported by different allies depending on the ideologies they stood for. The cold war lasted until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
